Just wanted to say whats up, long time admirer, first time rider. Just recently picked up an 09 1125r....love it. Been missing out on riding for a long time....2 wheel therapy is where its at!! Now on to the bad news.. I assume through interwebz research, my stator is dead, would it be feasible to forgo any warranty work... And just tackle this myself? Im in Old- River just a few miles out side of Houston. Really like this bike...it has exactly 2003 miles on it, i've ridden it exactly 10 times...this sucks. Either way, great forum, chock full of info...just wanted to say hello.

Wow. Welcome to the forum and the buell family! Be careful on that thing! That's a lot of bike for a new rider.

congrats on the new bike....post some pics when you get the photo upload figured out!

pics=good

Custom rewind is the place I've heard of most for getting the stator done, no complaints afaik. Look into the regulator also, there's a reason why the stator fails and in my opinion, the regulator/rectifier is the most likely reason. Yes, the stator builds up heat, but the real question is, why?

Thanks, use my I-phone for everything...can pics be posted from it onto the forum? I figurd if i could jump from a plane once, i could ride a bike..yes it is alot of bike....but im 35, and for now im going slow. I also wear helmet, jacket , gloves, and boots. Thanxs for the info....going to take it to dealer on friday, hope problems can be fixed. If not...i got time, and i enjoy tinkering.

The work of changing the stator is fairly easy and straight foward.

I bought a second stator and had my original rewound.
Although Custom Rewind trip only took two weeks, door to door.
Here's their web site -
http://www.customrewind.com/

They do very nice work. I had it done a few months ago and it's still on the shelf, as my "second" stator is still working well.

Watch your fingers.....the strength of the magnets in the rotor will try to rip the cover (with stator) out of your hands as you reinstal the cover...!

Good to know, hopefully they warranty the stator....Will order the VR, going to swap that after stator is changed. Maybe get some riding in after!

Stator and Voltage regulator were warrrantied, a few weeks back actually. Been busy doing some things...had some framed sliders for a F4i, had them machined down at work,look okay. Made a fender eliminator..removed some stuff. Passenger pegs,upper chain guard, rear wheel fender..mounted the inspection plate on swing arm. Want to do some more...but thats later.

did you change the VR anyway? i pick mine up tomorrow. kinda worried only has 600 miles and warranty runs out in november. ride season is just about to close here. i have a 400 mile trip home tomorrow. but thats still only a 1000 miles. yours is the earliest ive heard of going out...2003 miles.
