if i take off the sides on my x1 for a air cleaner set up, and take the scoop off the other side, do you need another style scoop or will it stay cool just fine in the open
 
What i remember buell said the scoop let the rear cylinder run about the same temp as the front. The rear would run 10 deg warmer because the air was pre-heated by the front cyl. I removed both sides when installing my forcewinder and have had no ill effects.
