just pulled off my V&H pipe to get the header ceramic coated. I took off the exhaust tip off to see what it looked like inside...........there was no fiberglass fill in it..........looks like there was at one time. Should there be some in there and what exactly does it do. Reason I ask, V&N sells replacement filler. Thanks Buellers!

It's the packing of the exhaust, It quiets down the exhaust and alot of the time changes the pitch of the sound. For instance without packing in my old jardine it got louder but had a tin sound to it where as with the packing it made it more deeper and thumpy sound. But with my force exhaust I don't run a baffle or packing and it sounds amazing. You don't have to repack it just a personal preference.

here is my .02 if you are one of those people that has to have everything perfect then yes repack the muffler. it creates back pressure for the motor and gives you more power then a strait pipe.

Alot of times there is a noticeable difference in performance with packing. Same as if you cut your headers off and running it that way (less back pressure) the pipes are designed to run packing. Do you absolutely need it for the bike to run? No, but if you want the performance the pipe was made for then repack it. Otherwise it seems like a waste of money spent... Your choice.

You can tune your bike to run with no packing. I had a Buell race can on my 98 S3 that blew all the packing out, had it dynoed and tuned that way. It ran fine with no poping but at higher revs it sounded tinny and hollow. I ended up putting a D&D on it after awhile.

it sounds damn good right now......how much will it quiet it down? Will the power gain be noticeable? Sorry for all the questions...

Its different from every exhaust. My exhaust Is meant to be ran without a baffle or packing. Some exhaust you can't tell a difference

^^^^^ dont listen to this kid, he is an idiot. Doesn't even know what he is talking about. Who cares what his exhaust is meant for. [confused]
Repack the exhaust bro.

Hey Onelogue I bet I know alot more about buells than you. And I've experienced with more exhausts then you. Every exhaust is different and each one will either have a dramatic change or nothing at all.

Exhaust design can be complicated. Running the muffler without any packing changes the tuned length, so it does have an effect. I hate to say it again, but the "backpressure" argument is wrong. A properly crafted pipe will have almost ZERO "backpressure" and will scavenge the chamber correctly for a better intake charge.

You want the exhaust gas out of the motor and away from it, not stopped up in the pipe. Changing the tuned length and shape of a muffler can be a pretty ugly thing unless it was a crappy design to begin with.

jmill25 you have 76 posts, you clearly have helped no one! Go away and quit defending a guy who tells newbies that the front cylinder on our bikes shut off when they get hot. AND all the senior members want him banned so HA i have every right to call him out. You both are losers!

Go call ebr and ask what your bike should do when it starts to overheat an when you get the answer your going to feel like an idiot. My bike was sputtering during 105 degree days and I took my bike out to ebr and that is what I was told. So unless your smarter than the people that designed our bikes I wouldn't be talking.

Grebesbakery buy exhaust packing and stuff the packing around the baffle that runs through the exhaust. Just stuff it as much as you can

Lol you are so cool onelogue, all you contribute is criticism, I'm not saying I contribute lots, I'm just grateful for the people on here that are helpful, everyone here is looking to help and be helped, yet you find it your right to e an asshole to every single person on here, that's not helping anyone out, just because you post a billion posts doesn't mean they are useful, and hmm maybe I don't have many posts because I've only owned a Buell for a few months, doesn't mean that I don't know about motorcycles, I have several. If you wanna be a badass to peoples face go for it, but no one wants to see you talking shit to every person on here.

He thinks he can run his mouth on the Internet but if he were to do it in person it would be a whole different story.
