i know the 12 muffler has "the valve" in it but i can get one for sooo cheap and mine is just short of junk. so can i run an 07 xb12r muffler on my 03 xb9r? what do i do with the valve? can i just lock it open? any help or advice appreciated

You better not be snatchin the one I'm lookin at! I know you can run them on the 9's and just leave the valve disconnected. Not sure about locking it open though.

Take the valve out and modify the Exhaust to simulate the opened exhaust so it will still help your midrange. If you just hollow out the muffler you will lose your midrange. Make it run through the Complete muffler(like a VooDoo)muffler. Look that up if need to.Check the mods section OR You Tube. The Stock inner piping routing is really good for mileage and performance Too! The sound is good also. Just take out the Valve and properly fix it. You can just wire it open to me not a good idea, but look up the routing of the piping in a 2007 OR 2008 Manual and you will understand what I'm saying. The Voo Doo routing inside the Muffler is simular to stock but has no insulation but will work good and sound well. Good Luck .*Jimi;)

thanks for the info guys!

so does removeing the valve require cutting and welding?

Morgan if you want to wait a little while I'll be selling my 9r factory race pipe just getting it cleaned up before I sellit so it looks better

leaving the valve closed gives identical internal pipe lengths as a stock xb9 exhaust. good switching points for the valve are 3800 and 5800 rpm, if desired.
