I have a 2006 Buell XB9R that is blowing the ignition fuse repeatedly. Had a new battery installed last August and bike ran fine. I put it up for the winter and went to take it out today and put the battery back in. Turned key to on and fuse blew. Checked battery connections and all other fuses which were good. Replaced the fuse and once key turned to on position it blows immediately. No movement in the speedometer needles or no lights coming on nor is the fuel pump kicking in. Anyone run into this issue before?

Start tracing wiring related to Ignition fuse - download a Service manual from Buellmods.com to figure out which ones. May be as simple as a mouse chewing through the wiring over winter or something...

Something else to think about is a shorted ignition switch, I have seen that happen before.

Something similar happened to mine. (06XB12R) Although, mine happened as I was riding it.. Turns out my fuel pump wires chaffed in the tank.. It ran great one day, the next I took it out for a ride and it started kinda hard then as I was going up the road it just died.

I could turn the key on but, when I turned on the ignition switch the fuse would pop immediately.. The fuel pump was the easiest to isolate out, I just got lucky as that was the first thing I eliminated.

Steven is right though, start isolating circuits and unplugging them to track down the offending wire(s)

quick way to see if it the fuel pump is to leave the kill switch off, and turn the key on, if the fuse doesn't blow flip the kill switch on

Check your wiring around the Triple tree where it goes down to the harness area. Might be shorting against the steerings frame.I've seen the Switch short out OR the wiring going up to it a terminal break off up in there and touch. Is there any sloppiness in the Key Switch? Down Load the manual and this will need to be traced down .Not sure how many miles are on the Bike but several years of bikes did have shorting in the wires in the Fuel Tanks after some miles were logged on their Machines. Welcome to the Forum and there is plenty of help here so Small things First.*Jimi
