it has 2500 miles then sat in a garage for years. Had to drain gas put fuel pump in. acts like it wants to start but the only way it will run for a few seconds is with shot of starter fluid in the throtle body. the thing is when it runs for a little the oil cap pops off and oil spews out. Is there something that could be cloged in the oil system to have it do that? please help very frustrated havent even gotten to ride it.

If it is only running on starting fluid then you are not getting and fuel into the intake. Check all fuel delivery components, ensure the fuel pump is energizing when you key the bike on, check all electrical connections. Might have clogged injectors? But best bet is to start with seeing if the fuel pump is energized when you key on, you can hear it.

if its over full of oil they'll blow the cap off easier than normal. my cyclone would if u let it idle long enuff with the seat off. I beleive theres suppose to be some pressure in the oil tank.

Thank you for responding. Newyorkbuell I did what you said fuel pump is doing its job and your right it doesnt seem to be getting gas in the intake from the injectors. How do I check the injectors? do you happen to know.

Hmmm not to sure, i do not know if you can use ecmspy to see if the injectors are firing or not. Worse case swap them out buellsterparts.com might have some.

Just wanted to say thank you for everyones sugestions to try and help me get my buell x1 started. It was all so helpfull Ive got it started and have been ridding it. I love the bike. thank you. I going to try and get some pictures posted

Now that you have it running check the oil when its warmed up and on the side stand. Check the level as soon as you turn it off because tubers usually drain oil back into the crankcase shortly after shutdown and most people only fill to the halfway mark on the dipstick to keep it from blowing out.
