So-- I am buying my brother a motorcyle for his 30th birthday. Its gotta be used, under 5k and something nice enough that I would ride it if i didn't have my toys.

I was hoping that since he had ridden both the buells I own a bit, especially the sTT that he would want a buell.

Nope, he wants an sv1000.. which i like them too.. but I wanna buy him a buell!

What should I do? Say buell or nothing ;) or let him get the sv he wants! haha it is his birthday after all!
 
I had a sv650 before my buell and although i love my new buell the sv650 would be the only bike out of my past ones that i would want to own again. I say get him the sv and maybe he will changed sides eventually! By the way thats an awesome birthday present!
 
I think I will end up going with the sv. He's wanted one for about as long as I can remember. Just sucks cause i found an ss that would be perfect.

He will be happy with anything tho lol hes currently riding a late 80's virago 1100 haha!

I just cant wait to ride it out to his house. I grin ear to ear the entire time I am riding my bike-- I ride at home with a couple buell guys and some liter bikes, and he tags along on his virago, constantly scraping metal parts trying to keep up lol I don't see him grinning much.. this should change that.

He doesn't know yet.. I found the sv and if thats the route I go I will be picking it up saturday afternoon.

Be a good brother and get the SV then when you guys go riding leave him in the dust and tell him that he should of got a Buell!lol:D
 
I've been saving a little at a time for the past three years for this. My friend that owned the bike shop i worked at took his bro all over the country to all the big downhill parks for his 30th and i got to go along..it was awesome and memorable. My bro doesnt downhill like us but loves bikes. 30 is a big bday and i wanna kick off the 30's decade with a bang! He doenst know that I am doing this so i am gonna ride it to his house and when he comes out act like its mine for a few minuets haha

I'm assuming he has rode an sv1000? If he has, then I would definitely get him what he likes.
 
The real question is "is his birthday before the Dragon?" and "Is he coming along?" We need another person...

Couldnt tell you. I know he rode my tl100 when i had that.. but different breed for sure.

I know he has been on 650's

@50 His birthday isnt til december.. so i dont wanna wait that long.. i want him to have it for this season.. I asked him to try to get off work but he cant ;(

and just realized.. this thread should i make him ride a buell not buy a buell ha!

in other news.. just spent a whole lotta $ at ebr...wahhhh now but :):):):):):) when it shows up!
 
I think its awesome what youre doing for him! Wish my bro and i talked at all.

I would say get him what he wants but big thing to remember is that the sv doesnt have adjustable shocks. So its kinda bouncy in the turns.
 
SV's are solid bikes, dont be shocked if you end up taking a fancy to it. One of my riding buddies rides an sv1000 and its a smokin machine.

I do prefer the full fairing on an SV though.

I ride all the time with an sv1000(father in law). It's definitely a great bike, and is definitely faster than the buell. Personally I'd take the buell any day though(mainly due to appearance and comfort), but if he likes the sv then get him what he wants. JMO. My buell is MUCH more comfortable than my father in law's sv1000. I think it looks MUCH better too. It does suck when he slowly walks away from me at stop signs, but oh well...he does have a power commander, intake, exhaust, and sprocket, so I guess I can't be too upset.
 
Get him what he wants. He will come around to Buell eventually. That would be like me wanting a Buell as long as I can remember and having someone get me a Ninja for my gift because they like it. I would still be happy, but it wouldn't be my dream bike!
 
Nuttin wrong with an sv.
I know a few that race 650s up in NH, and another buddy just uped to a sv1k.
Get him what he wants, but damn that must be nice!
