I have a XB12STT 07 purchased new and now with 7000km
on it.
I have raced motocross, short track and half mile on
all kinds of bikes, back in the 70/80's.
I purchased the Buell because it reminded me of a half mile bike.
I was impressed with the bike from the start but never thought it had much in the way of power. I have only once got it to lift its front wheel in a power shift and never with just rolling it on.
I had it serviced at the dealer and was told that it was not activating the muffler splitter. This was fixed, but, it isn't a dog but it ain't no freight train.
Any help out there?
I have put on wider and higher motocross bars to help steering.
Shortened the shifter so my boots fit under and I don't have to take my foot of the peg to shift.
Purchased the passenger foot peg kit with the duel seat. Then you have to remove the number plates, so I welded and formed new number plates out of aluminum and installed them over the passenger peg mounts. They look like original.

Charlie, after you do the basics (new plugs, TPS reset), get an exhaust system and tune your ECM. You will gain at least 10 more ponies. My Super TT was a wheelie machine, and I never felt "underpowered." The Hawk modified stock exhaust is a great way to go if cost is an issue. My .02

Thanks Rhino
Plugs and TPS reset no problem.
Point me in the direction for the equipment and "how to" tune the ECM.
Who has the best and least destructive to your ears, muffler.

Check with TheOctopus, on this forum, for the best tuning advice/assistance.

Mufflers are a very personal choice--search GB, D&D, Drummer, Hawk, Keda, etc.

I can tell you that the Hawks and Keda's seem to be the most popular, GB and Drummer are definitely close, and they all seem to have world-class customer service. I went with a GB.

Charlie, +1 on Rhino's comment. I have a 12 that started out as an STT, and has since become a long R. When I got it, I thought the same as you, but I put a K&N filter on her, got the Hawk muffler, and asked theoctopus a lot of questions before he started the tuniversity. I leaned how to tune my bike, and I can roll on @ 2000 RPM in first gear, and the front wheel WILL come up. I have more left to do, but I'm happy where she's at...for now.

Thanks Christian and Rhino.
At 63 years young it's hard to both ask questions and understand the answers when it comes to electronics.
My only wireless device is two paper cups and a string held taught inbetween.
I sail a old cutter and have a GPS "good personal sextent" no batteries works on sun/moon and star power.
I will look for theoctopus and ask for help.

Another question you might be able to help with.
I had wanted, and still do want to buy a 08 STT
to go with my 07.
No luck in my area, but I did find a 09 Ss.
I have checked specks and can't find much differance between the 09 Ss and the 08 STT. All the numbers seem to be the same.
Any help?:)

Well, the SS will not have the number plates, nor the high front fender. It will also have a slightly lower handlebar with no cross member, and a more conventional 2-up seat (the STT has a sort of "supermoto" seat). And it will have a black frame/swingarm/engine. Otherwise, they are very similar (suspension, ride height, etc).

Thanks Rhino
Will the super moto seat fit on the Ss.
I can make new number plates that fit over the passengers peg mounts out of aluminum.
Everything else is easy.
