Well I guess I'll come clean. I know very little about road / sport bikes and suspension setup. I know dirt bikes, and road racing setups extensively better than bikes. I have less than 1k mi road experience. I understand the theory and will admit that street + 2 wheels IS NOT my expertise by a long shot. Go ahead and flame me!! I deserve it all

No one is here to flame you. We're just trying to help you from stepping in the same messes we have over the years.

Keep the seals and oil, clean and maintained. Know your baselines, RECORD YOUR CHANGES, and dont be afraid to make a change. When it comes to damping changes, I have found its easier to make larger changes up front (record them) and then make smaller changes to fine tune it in. I've met too many people who are working their way in from the base settings one click at a time, and they really cant feel the difference, as the change is so slight and they tend to adapt their riding to compensate.

RECORD YOUR CHANGES. Seriously. My method is just to put a piece of masking tape on the tank (or top tube on a MTB) to write changes on. outthere and the other racers (I am not a racer) have their own tricks for keeping tabs on their suspension settings. I highly doubt anyone relies on memory.

Great link Outthere!

Really important part:
"SAE Oil Weight

DO NOT GO BY LABLED OIL WEIGHT! Not only is this a poor way to decide which oil to use, but each manufacturer seems to be on a different scale. For example Maxima RSF 7wt is actually lighter than Spectro 5wt and Silkolene Pro RSF 7.5wt is actually heavier than Showa SS-8 10wt. This is not a judgment about the quality of these oils, just that the 'weight' label leads to a lot of trouble when trying to tune with suspension oils."

No flames here either! I'm usually the one on fire (and putting myself out with 34:19's beer) Suspension damping all does the same job no matter the application. If you know dirt bikes, it's exactly the same on the street. Way too much compression is a terrible ride, way to much rebound and it will 'pack-down' over rapid bumps. All you're trying to do is keep the tire in contact with the road as much as possible.

Man, thats well put:up: I make check marks on the back of my registration card (zip lock under the seat). If you want to change something, go at minimum 3 clicks in the front (or 1/2 turn in the rear), and see if it's the right direction. Only changing ONE thing at a time, no hurry! Ride it for awhile. The next day you may feel very different about some changes.

Jounce the bike after changes to make sure you're in the realm of 'even damping' front to rear.

I really do appreciate all the feed back. As I said I do understand suspension setup as far as comp/rebound dampening, preload but street missles are new to me. As far as recording...I have a bit of a habit. I record almost everything.. thankfully the po and ppo kept good documentation on the bike allowing me to transfer it all over to my log book. Which I have been slowly updating and should have it all in so far.

and remember, if you take it out on a ride on a cold morning, the suspension can feel different as the day warms up, and the oil and fork legs change temperature.

Yeah, and keep a lock on the beer fridge with Cooter around.

Is cooter a beer thief or a beer disposal? I gave up drinking a few years ago and have some still in the fridge. He's more than welcome to it...

Looks good. A little large for my taste, but good job!

Some of these aren’t calibrated correctly, but some also have a little adjustment pot on the back of the board you can use to adjust the voltage. I just hope your DVOM is accurate too. I’d recommend calibrating it to match what ECMDroid says if need be.

If it is off, it’s not the end of the world, just make a note of it, and just keep an eye out for an anomaly.

Yeah I thought I order a smaller one but that's what I got and figured screw it. Its -.1v off. Which is fine by me and does the job. I hope my damn fluke is accurate. If not I'll have to choke some one.

Tonight I plan on wrapping up the throttle and get to replacing the plug wires. Then I can start putting the front end back together for now. I am going to pull the exhaust and repaint it, since it's pretty ugly.

Well got the throttle cables re-routed and tided up. Got the spark plug wires replaced thanks SPHD! capped the 2 holes in my airbox from the old vents. Installed the EBR left / right controls and tested, took my soldering iron to melt the alignment pin off. Reinstalled the left scoop. Installed a led strip for dank nooners (jk I had no license plate light which is required to pass NY insp. Ran new 18ga ground from headlight bracket to tail frame WITH SOLDERED CONNECTIONS. cleaned corrosion off the bushings that mate the coil to the bracket, and secured the new vent line. only a few small items left before I take it out for a shake down.

Installed my grips, bar end mirrors, and put it all back together. Brought it outside and did a tps reset, then set the idle to 1k. Starts almost immediately, let it idle for a few minutes while I tossed the salad bowl on. Hopped on it and went up and down the drive way making sure the brakes were working and not sticking. Took it 1/2 mile up and down the road half dozen times, progressively bringing the rpms higher and harder. I will say my gear box feels 1000x better. Engine stumbled here and there, I'm thinking bad gas. I set my buelltooth on record and when I got back I hit stop and disconnected and closed the app. The log is no where to be found...oh well. I did not get a chance to see my afv, one of the reasons I wanted to run it. But I guess it will have to wait a bit longer.

Hey just because that's what you read does not mean that's what I said. I can't control your sexual desires.

The log is no where to be found...

Where it is totally depends on how your Android is set up. I would recommend downloading a File Manager to make finding and loading files easier.
FYI, ECMDroid isn't set up to read the logs or manipulate them. Find where it went and then put it in Mega Log Viewer with the targets you want to make a new file. You'll then need to put that new file into ECMDroid from (most likely) the download folder.

It''s not ECMDroids fault. This nonsensical pain in the ass is why everyone wishes there was an Apple option....

If you didn’t save a file yet, the folder structure will not be created. Make sure your android device is showing “hidden files”

You may need to install a 3rd party file manager program like cooter suggested. The stock ones often leave a lot to be desired.

Android>data>org.ecmdroid>files>eeprom

I think my phone was the issue. At first it wouldn't connect to buelltooth, then when it was connected live data was "frozen" even with livedata on. I'll have to dig some more but yeah I've yes megalog viewer prior. But idk why I'm having connectivity issues.
