12S What is this earth strap?

Can anybody tell me what the earth strap/bar is for which is located at the rear of the frame beneath the fan from the rear horizontal down to the left inside of the frame. I have found that mine has been left disconnected by the previous owner and it is really hard to get to. Is it critical?

O2 sensor removed on right after ceramic coating headers. You can just see the strap ring disconnected from the threaded protrusion mid left. The strap runs down to inside the left leg where the dirty finger is in the photo, holding it from swinging down.

That is a strap to hold the wiring harness away from the motor so the wires don't get melted.

Pick up another nylon plug from harley feed the wireing harness back over in the channel attach strap and then zip tie your starter back together with your speed sensor. And hope that you didn't melt a hole in the harness.

That makes sense now. Thanks so much. Couldn't figure why an earth strap would have such a rubbery mounting at the bottom. Thanks so much for that advice, squidbuellie.
