I just bought a 2003 XB9sL (with Race kit) and will try to make as a BABE!

Found few issues after rode it 150 miles in my way back home. Any help will be really appreciated:
1) Engine light come on some times when is hot.
2) I listened the fan when bought but no any more I did not ride it yet long distances.
3) Kind of metal light hit in the front wheel when apply the the brake and push down the handle bars.

So far i did the following upgrades
1) High beam mod
2) open Inner air box and swap for front open AirBox (black)
3) Swap to all black fairings
4) Tail and blinkers LED upgrade
5) Remove belt guards
6) Chop the front pulley cover
7) Replace grips and levers
8) Install Harley front brake pads and bleed the fluid

All stock including the Race kit:

Looks much better! Thinking about going to work on my rims, looks like you did some work on yours. What did you use?

Hello fellows, any help on these:
Found few issues after rode it 150 miles in my way back home. Any help will be really appreciated:
1) Engine light come on some times when is hot.

#1 - Could be a lot of things, I would try and pull codes while the light is on. How To Pull Codes
#2 - I would check around the fan and rear cylinder head and see if there is any oil. If the rocker box gasket fails it will leak oil all down the back head and into the fan and possibly short it out.
#3 - This sounds like steering head bearings. If it makes a metal pop noise when you apply brakes and any pressure to the front end, you need to look into replacing the bearings before they go completely bad.

Hopefully some of those help.

THANKS A LOT ENEMY ZERO!!

1) I did some H-D manual procedure, and no codes showed. I ordered the spy cable not yet arrived. I found a front spark plug cable cracked and show the female connector metal. I replaced with pair of brand new H-D spark plugs and cables, and think is fixed now. I will test tomorrow morning.
2) No oil any where
3) I hear and feel closer and I think is the front bearing. Any recommend bearings and replacement procedure.

THANKS AGAIN ! :)

Glad to hear that you may have found some of the issue and even more happy that you have no oil around the fan or rocker box. That will keep you from having to rotate the motor out.

Another thing I would check for the fan would be the fuse. The fuse box should be under the seat and if you count them starting at top left going down then back up to top right down, the fan fuse should be number 10 in the box. Make sure it's still good. I also read you haven't done any long rides yet. That plus the RSS and awesome northern California weather may be a recipe for not having to kick on :D.

As far as the front steering head bearings, I haven't had to replace mine yet and I'm having a hard time finding a how to. d_adams gives a condensed version in the second post HERE. For detailed instructions I would download the 2003 Service Manual Here. I've heard the name All Balls Bearings a lot. I'm not sure what everyone else recommends but at least it's a start.

Good luck and hope this helps!

Well engine lamp came on again for few miles and disappere before a reach my office. It is only a 20 miles one way. I got the spy cable yestderday and will try to see if find something today after work. Bike runs great but the light bothers me a lot! :(

I check the FAN fuse last week and it was ok.

Any other sugestions?
Thank you !
