Im looking at getting a bike for the summer, 03 XB9S with 6,300 miles, it has brand new tires. The guy thats selling it bought it brand new and has all the service records for the bike. Hes asking $5000 for it. Just wanting some help for things to look for. This is my first street bike. But have been around Harleys my whole life. Any advise would be great. Thanks.

It kills me to tell you this because I feel bad for the guys trying to get rid of used ones right now, but the truth of the matter is, there are brand new ones out there for not a whole lot more. I asked the price on a new 09 xb9 a few weeks ago at my dealer and was told "about 6,000". So you might do some checking around first...

On a good note though, the sooner all the new ones are gone, the sooner the value of our used ones will come back up... There, I feel better now [up]

My friend just picked up a 05 XB9SX with a few mods, 14k miles for $3500 in decent condition.. Plus some Buell dealerships around here are asking 6995 for new Buells. including a few xb12r(firebolt) and many xb12s,xb12scg, (lightening) Personally, I'd keep looking for the right deal. Good Luck

Ok, thanks. but im looking at telling the guy i will give you four grand and see what he says. I'm only 21 so the cost of insurance is a little more on a brand new bike than one thats just a few years old, i looked into the cost of a blast and it was like $30 a month, im gonna go look at it next weekend if its not sold. but thanks for the advice.

search around on buell.com they have a bike finder on there that lists all the new buells left in the usa. I found my wifes on there a few months back. It was a 2007 xb12r for 6k. So there are some really good deals out there, so just keep searching. Insurance wont really change that much, my bike is the same as hers just 2 years newer and we pay the same on them.

My buddy in manchester NH got a 2008 Xb12scg with 0 miles for 6400 bucks. Its def worth searching for a new one first.

And new ones come with a warranty, you have to take that into account.

How much might u spend on repairs over the next two years, especially on an older used model. Newer model, less problems, free service. Worth it IMO

Yah i just looked online around where i live, and didnt see anything that interested me. Im not looking for a bike with a crotch rocket look, im looking for a naked bike that i can get use to riding again. I looked for the XB9, but there was only one in my state and im not driving like 150 miles to look at a bike thats not even in my price range. I just sold one of my cars for $5000 and dont want to spend over that, and would like to stay around $4000 so i can do some mods of my own. and get the insurance and plates and not worry about coming up with the money for it.

Well I mean it comes down to how you want to spend your money. Also there is the I must have it know factor, which can make someone spend more money just becuz they must have it now.

last summer before the bottom fell out on buell I bought an 03 S for 4,200 with 8,000 miles 3 grand in mods new tires and had it delivered along with a majority of stock parts from 400 miles away.

so I think that the price is a little high, especially now.

Wow, sounds good to me. I e-mailed the guy and offerd him $4000 so i will see what he says. If not i will keep looking, its not like i need it today.

There's definately better deals, but like you said- how far do you want to drive for a newer bike that's gonna cost more on the insurance side?
What your offering sounds ok for your current needs.
Good luck!

It's too much like everybody saying. I bought mine year ago for $3800 at 5400 mls on it. It's 03 XB9S. Keep looking and you'll find at right price. You should look into new one too as other members say.

tell him you've been researching prices for that model on the forums and shoot him an offer and let him know the offer stands until you find another bike. "search tempest" is a good craigslist search engine, research prices around the country, so you'll know what a good price is.

ok i will have to give him a call, and see what he says. I have looked for a new one and the model im looking for are all sold out except for one that is 150 miles away and i dont want to spend that much for my first street bike. I sold one of my cars and got $5000 for it and looking to stay below that and $4000 sounds even better to me, so i can get plates and insurance plus some mods that i already know im gonna have to do.

Just found a 2005 XB12S for $4500, with 7400 miles. Just sent him a message and asked him if he would take $4000 for it, waiting to see what he says. Its like a blue/purple color and the wheels are like a gold, but the color is minor.

05 XB12S is gonna be my new bike. He said it has coated headers, high flow intake, raceing ecm, extra plastic, gutted muffler. I was gonna go look at it today but after having 60 degree weather this week it's snowing now.....but thats michigan for yah. Hopfuly look at it tommarow the news said 50degrees tommarow, so im hoppin for it so i can get my bike.
