Hey guys and gals,

I've been having a weird click coming from the front end after braking, but only after I've come to a complete stop and revved the bike. So after I stop, even when I have the clutch in, the revving seems to make whatever was stuck become unstuck. Doesn't seem to affect power on take off, so I don't THINK it's clutch related?

After scouring the forums it sounds like a steering head bearing, but I find it weird that revving the bike is when I hear the click. Am I in the ball park?

For full disclosure here are my recent repairs:
Rebuilt Front Brake Master Cylinder
Rebuilt Front Caliper
Replaced Front Brake Pads
New tires and wheel bearings

a "clunk" coming from the front of the bike DURING BRAKING is always associated with either a loose caliper...heavily worn rotor hardware....or bad steering head bearings/loose steering head bearings.

a "click" coming from the front of the bike DURING BRAKING is always associated with either a warped rotor...worn brake pad locator pins....work pad pin slots....or faulty pads.

a "weird click" coming from front of bike at rest after braking and when revving the motor would be difficult to associate with any suspension/braking/front end componentry. check your horn bracket....your header assembly flanges and hardware for looseness/cracks....your front muffler bracket and mounting clamp....your header to muffler clamp. i'd start there.

Will work on this tonight. Thanks man!

my pleasure. also remember that these motors are attached to the tank/frame via an elastomeric-type fastening system consisting of multiple flexible fasteners. they allow the motor to "move around" and dampen vibrations along with dissipating the inherent primary inbalance that XB and sportster motors are notorious for. i would take a very close look at all your engine to frame mounts including the large dog-bone at top rear and the front isolator bracket that attaches from front cylinder to frame. check that one in particular for excessive wear.

Thank you guys. I actually have a hard copy of the manual at home, and I know it has some 'if/then' scenarios for tech-ing problems. This one is just difficult to describe, and I've never felt this on a motorbike before.

^^^^^^^^^^^LOL!!! LOL!!! Steering wheel bearings are right next to the left handed smoke shifter. SORRY HAD TO DO IT.

A-holes and cooter-holes!

Talk about good times

BTW I wasn't trying to make anyone feel bad. Just wanted to put a disclaimer out there.

Rich, chickn made me feel bad too when I read that this morning. I started crying while I was eating my lucky charms, I started asking for forgiveness, it was a rough morning.
