Looking for a little advice, I have had my 08 since new, never had an issue until last week. Turn the key to start and no power to anything, no gauges no lights nothing except the rear tail light comes on. If I turn the handle bars all the way to the left everything gets power. As soon as I turn the handle bars to the right I loose power again. I think it’s a ground problem. I have checked all the fuses and relays and they are all good. I need help on locating all the grounding locations or what you may things is happening. Thanks!!

It wouldn't be the first time a wiring harness had a problem near the steering neck from constant turning. Poke around at the cabling and see if that causes a flicker in power.

I tried moving the wires around the neck, no flickering, I tried to isolate the diffrent wire groups at the neck and move them around but no luck.

If it was me, I'd get a wiring harness from buellsterparts.com for $125. You would at least know if that was the problem, then you could fix your current harness and sell it or put it back on your bike

Too many things it could be. To at least eliminate the chance that it's a shorted wire do the procedure below. If it's not, start tracing your grounds starting with the battery and following the cables to where they ground to the frame.

To ID the area of interest (after ruling out the obvious sources like bad/dead battery, kickstand switch, etc):

- Pull the negative terminal cable off of the battery.
- Set a multimeter to mA.
- Attach the neg. cable to one lead and touch the neg. terminal on the battery itself.
- If it reads 0, you don't have a short.
- If it's anything but 0 then you have a short somewhere. Now start pulling fuses from the block one at a time until the needle drops to 0. That'll narrow it down.

Ok I narrowed the issue down to the ignition switch under the key switch. Does anyone know the part number for a new ignition switch or after marks one I can buy, for 2008 xb12r? Is this a common part used on other vehicles?

OK I fixed my bike, A small wire inside the ignition switch lower housing broke, I re attached the Wire now everything works again, Thanks for your help everyone, If you know the part number for the lower housing of the ignition switch I would like to buy a spare.

thanks!!
