Anyone familiar with this problem? on my 1125cr, the engine gets quite hot which in turn kicks-in the cooling fan whilst driving. This draws a fair bit of battery juice causing the battery-flat indicator to come on.
I had the bad luck of a toasted Alternator which I had replaced, but even with the new alernator, the battery warning light comes on again after a run of about 25-30km .
I have a Race ECM fitted.
Anyone had this issue?

They do run hot especially if stopped for a while in traffic. If your battery is bad, your charging system won't be able to keep up with the demand. When you replaced your stator(alternator) did you replace the rotor with an upgraded one from EBR? It does help.

What are the actual temperatures your bike is running? My bike even in cold weather will run 185-214. The fact the fans are on should not drain the battery. Which leads me to wonder if yours still has the "harley charging fix" which dropped a leg of the system to help cool the system. Watch this video to see what im talking about.

When the sprag cgoes bad it will cause excess heat too. Unrelated I believe. But the upgraded rotor needs to be done in conjunction with new stator.

Good point Matteson, any 1125 owner that has starting problems or a "clunk" when starting should immediately look into the sprag clutch before it totally disintegrates.

Thanks everyone for your tips and thanks Cosworth for the video clip. Had the system checked professionally today at Harley and they can't find anything wrong. I will now have a voltage regulator fitted to it, as I am getting 'voltage error' which shuts down all electrical exept the engine. Stopping or slowing to say 20k/h will bring everthing back on again for a little while, acceleration brings the 'voltage error' back on. Will see if the regulator will fix it.....

that alone sounds like you have the "harley fix" at high speeds it drops the leg causing low charging. To really fix this you need the EBR rotor at the very least and check the stator for any problems along with the rectifier or change the rectifier to the ricks motorsports model. And get the stopgap fix harley installed removed from the bike.

50dro carries this kit from twincycles that has all of the parts necessary for this fix
