hi guys i just bought my xb9r a few months ago and i love it but there is just one gripe that i have that i hope can be easily fixed. The clutch lever is a little to hard to pull in. I am new to Buells and motorcycles in general so i was wondering if there was a way i could make the clutch easier to pull in? the bike didn't come with a manual so i don't really know. Is there a way i can fix this or do i just have to man up and deal with it?

download the manual from the link below the Buellxb header, before making an adjustment try lubing the cable first, try it out, if after you have the same issue refer to the manual, but I'm sure someone will chime in about it with further info, good luck

these clutches being diaphragm spring style have very easy & smooth lever pull when all is right. the adjustment is piece of cake & if you have any questions on it just repost here. after you slide up the adjustment barrel rubber protective boot which is on the clutch cable just in front of the front cylinder exhaust port, loosen the locknut and turn barrel until lever gets sloppy. stop there. go to lever, remove cable from lever perch(perch is bracket holding lever to handlebar/clip-on assembly), hold it vertically and very slowly dribble a quality thin lube such as 3-in-1 oil or something similar down the cable. the thinner the oil the easier it will flow. you can get all fancy and buy a cable luber and special cable lube in aerosal can but the old 3-in-1 oil trick works wonderfully. lube the cable before you do anything else then adjust clutch. it will work much better for you. hope that helps.

If you used to ride, or have ridden metric bikes, the Buell clutch is hard to pull. Lots of lever effort compared to other bikes. Check out the Muller power clutch from American Sport Bike. It reduces clutch effort by 40% for 169.99. Ride on!!

not necessarily so chris. i have 3 Buells, all with correctly adjusted clutches and cables lubed as mentioned in above post and the lever pull is no stiffer than any other bike in my stable which includes a BMW and several late model Kawasakis. it's all in how you lube the cable and lever perch assembly.

U can install a hydraulic clutch which reduce the force by at least 30%
I installed a magura and its just great
