My headlights ( hi&low) just stopped working.

I recently removed the front plastic, repainted it and returned it to its position with the 6 small SS screws.

I also recently removed all the lights off of the rear of the bike except the brake light. I have plans to reinstall the turn lights but am just waiting on their arrival. (they all also had plastic insulation around the pin type connections so when i unplugged it not likely to be a short.)

Based on these two scenarios im pretty sure it sound like a short. I also plan on removing and checking the bulbs and connectors. Is there a fuse box i can check as well? Would terminating the license plate light cause the voltage regulator to malfunction? or the headlights not to work?

Would a short in the rear influence the front headlight?

no. check your fuse box. under your uly seat. headlight assembly has dedicated fuse. look under fuse box lid for schematic and fuse size and location. your 2 headlight bulbs are controlled by the left side handlebar switch gear. check it at the plug end. headlight bucket fed by single plug....orange/white/yellow/black 4 wire plug. check it also. black is ground....white is high beam...yellow is low beam...orange is 12 volt positive feed.
