I'm getting ready to put some new tires on my bike, and I'm wondering if it would work to stretch the tire one size? Go from the 180/55ZR17 to a 190/50ZR17? Anyone got any idea if that'll fit or not? Also, any recommendations on tire brand? Thanks

I am curious to know how putting a 190 on there would change cornering characteristics. I'm just thinking that the sidewall would try to roll over on itself. Also, once you forced that huge hunk of rubber over on it's side it would just feel really loose and floaty in a corner while at speed.

But I am by no means an expert.

But then if you aren't into hitting corners then none of that even matters. Let us know if you do it for sure.

ok cool, thanks guys! I'll have to see whats available, and go from there. In reply to squeadlies unless the tire gets squared like they do over time, it really shouldn't hurt the handling any, if at all that I could see. I could see it maybe throwing off the balance the little, but the bikes handling is so crazy, i don't think you'd really notice. I could be wrong though! ;) I'll try the oversize and see what happens.

I run a 190 55 17, for me I like how the bike comes off of center onto the sides.

I think my news ones are even taller, maybe a 60 series.

I ordered a 190/50R17, so it shouldn't be much taller than the 180/55 but we'll see. That definitely looks like it works. Cant wait to get mine installed.

I had a 200, up to speeds of 150mph without a problem. Went to the track with the tire, promptly took it off.
