2010 Buells do not have LED turn signals

I got to see a 2010 lightning today. It didn't have LEDs in the new signal housing like some have assumed. However, it did have a clear tail light lens with LEDs for the break light.

I've heard that there were changes to the wiring harness to accommodate the LED taillight. So my question is... Is the voltage different? Is the plug different? What do I need to do to convert to a 2010 break light?

CALLING ALL 2010 BUELL OWNERS If someone can take pictures of the wiring harness plugs for the break light, and measure the voltage both with break on and break off, that would be AWESOME!

I run an LED bulb in my brake light on my 04 XB12S. It's one of those that you can get from your local auto parts store that go into a standard light socket. So far, so good. I've been running it for a few months now. $10 or so mod...

Will this damage my harness?!?!?!?[confused]

No it uses less power. Good to know it works. Is it brighter?

Yeah...I think it's a bit brighter...My brother actually gave it to me so it has red LED's with the red lens...not preferable, but free

The "right" way to do it would be to have clear LED's with the red lens or visa versa...

dave, i saw this on another forum. some dude ordered the 2010 led tail light and put it on his xb no problem except for the plug. the 2010 has 3 wires & one dedicated plug comming off the back of the tail light. he just cut the plug off & put connectors on to fit the stock ones. it is also a sealed unit where the pre 2010's are 2pcs (lens& bucket). he said it took him about 5min. to switch it out, other than that it was plug & play. looked pretty bright too. part# he gave was Y0401.7AC TAIL LIGHT, LED, W/O LICENSE PLATE LIGHT, $57.00. if you give this part# to your dealer, make sure it has this decription.

hey dave, i tried chicago harley and it is listed there. make sure you use all caps. when you type in p/n. it's cheaper there too $45.60.
