Gotcha. Yeah, these came as part of the package in a full engine gasket kit so I didn't have much of a choice. Hopefully they do the job.

Awesome! [up] What will upgrading the cams do? Is it the gears upgraded or the cam shaft the pushes the pistons for the bigger pistons?
Also will your compression ratio be changing?

sorry for the threadjack...

your an inspiration to me :)

cant wait to see what your finished bike looks like.

Onelogue: the larger cams, valves, porting, lifters and rockers will allow for more air to be crammed into the cylinder each cycle. The CR will be raised a point or so from stock along with a lighter and more efficient piston design taken from drag race bikes. These along with the larger displacement should make for a nice increase in tq and hp across the entire range.

Drogen, thanks for the props. Bike looks good, now lower the forks in the triples about an inch and it should be sitting more level. How do you like your new engine?

Engine build complete. Should have it back in my possession in a week or so.

Due to the much increased bore size, if was necessary to obtain custom machined pushrod tube bases and collapsible rod tubes. I was opposed to this change but had to choice. I think it adds a bit of nostalgia to the bike. Otherwise it is very stealthy, looks nearly stock.

I'm having the TB bored to 60mm which will be plenty for the new beast.

Hey turboraven that bike looks sick. Who and how much was the conversion for the front tire to run two brakes on it?

Thx bro. Honestly don't remember the shop or cost right now...been a couple years. Let me see what I can dig up.

I key piece to the puzzle arrived today. I partnered with Danvanceracing.com to pioneer the first ported XB throttle body. Due to the one piece design, no other shops would touch this piece. Dan took it from the stock 49mm bore to a fully bored 53.5mm, opened the runners up to 1.725" and blended the transition. Should do well atop this beast of an engine. Given the extensive engine mods, this bored out and ported TB should uncork another 8-10rwhp vs the stock piece.

Amazing build 280 tire without stretch is awesome I love the bike

Thanks brotha

Yup thats going to suck a lot more air! cant wait to see the dyno results.

Me either! lol I'm finally stateside again. Will be assembling the bike and heading to the dyno come AUG.

I bought a second set of wheels to go under the knife. Sent the rear to kosman specialties in CA to have the rear widened from 5.5 to 10.5.
turboraven, how many time did it take to wait your rear rim back from the Kosman? I sent my rear rim more than two weeks ago and I am still waiting a call or an email from the Kosman Specialties. And how did you pay for the work?

I don't recall the cost off hand but remember that it was not cheap. I would call them and check in to ensure they received it and have it in line for modification. If I remember correctly, it was 4-5wks total till delivery.

New engine is in and running (kind of) and ready for tuning. I originally tuned the bike using the expert help of the Tuniversity with great results. However now that they have closed down, I have had no helpful response from the three guys who were running this business. I never thought I would face this degree of difficulty in gaining assistance to get this new engine back on the road. I'm currently exploring other tuning options but it seems that once TunerPro is on your ECM, other software is no longer compatible and therefore unable to even communicate with the ECM in any sense.

This doesn't sound right to me. I've switched back and forth using both TunerPro and ECMSpy for Mono on my notebook, but haven't used 2 tools concurrently (not sure that's possible).

Also, I've had the same issue with tuning support; it seems to no longer exist.

Turboraven, How did you adjust the chain free play without idler?

I chose not to run a tensioner sprocket. I cut the chain a bit short and walk it on. Snug but not too tight. Has worked well for me in the past.

Yes, I believe you can run TunerPro and ECMspy but more advanced software systems utilizing wideband 02 have not been able to access the ECM due to the previous overwrite by said programs. Many dyno shops are aware of this as I have recently discovered.

Yes, sadly it seems the support does not exist at this time. I'm sure I'm not the only bueller who's left out there hanging...
