If everyone doesn't already know this......the original picture posted on this thread is of the 1190 superbike they were in concept stage with. EBR has now made that engine/bike the 1190RR:

http://www.ebracing.com/motorcycles/1190RR/

I have comfirmation about this since I was at EBR a week ago and talked to the man himself. I even saw the original spy shot bike.

The 1190 no longer uses the twin side radiators and is converted to a single, large, front mounted radiator.

Whats wrong with resembling all the others? It would go against everything Erik Buell stands for.

"Different in every sense"

If this is the case, and it is, thats what is wrong with resembling the others. He could have been just as successful as the others if another factory, who was just as excited about racing as Erik was, picked the brand up and pushed them. NOT HD. And as much as I dislike HD I will not turn this into a "I hate HD thread" haha.

The May, 2010 issue of "Cycle World", pages 40-51 has a story, "The Demise of the Buell Motorcycle Company", plus a review of the never-to-be 2011 Barracuda 2. Every Buell owner should read or buy that issue.

When you read the story, Harley-Davidson comes off looking bad. HD deep-sixed the deal Erik Buell had arranged with Bombardier to basically save the Buell and then destroyed the dozen Barracuda 2 that had been built.

Seems to me HD wanted to make sure Bombardier would not become a competitor. In a year the non-compete agreement between Eric Buell and HD expires and Eric will be free to built street machines again. I hope the Phoenix arises and with it Buell.

DEFINITELY not 200 hp as first speculated but a 160hp 1125 engine...great redesign. Hopefully Bombardier can get it goin as the 2012 EBR B2

Hey guys, if you go to 'CYCLE WORLD' in May 2010, that bike is the 'Barracuda 2' that buell was gonna put out. Read the whole article. It is a bad ass bike.

I remember the Cycle World article saying that the Barracuda they test rode still had a stock 1125 motor and the guy only got a short road ride on it so he couldn't really push the bike but it was an obvious improvement. I do like the looks but I think EBR has hit a home run with the styling of the 1190. Too bad they went crazy with the price.

I looked into getting the new radiator kit and bodywork for my 1125 and even doing that would cost as much as I paid for my 1125. The radiator kit is not just a bolt on but requires either frame modification or a new frame entirely, I'm not sure which.

I still own this issue. Cycle World did a big 5 page article on the death of buell. and it explained the Barracuda in detail. It was not actually an 1125 motor. in fact it had a smaller displacement. But it did however, rev much faster. and have only 11 more hp then an 1125 motor. So i am very sorry to the people spouting about the 200hp motor but its not true. haha no matter how much i wish they were right. the Motor was based on the 1125 but not a copy. Erik was planning on putting this bike into the market by 2012. And he does have plans to produce this bike in the future. That is if he has not changed his mind since the Cycle world interview nearly a year ago.

Didn't the article state that that motor was just temporary for prototype testing? They stated that they were disappointed about one they test rode not having the production motor in it.

The 200hp came from someone I know in the Engineering group that had ties to this project and they were saying the powerplant was going to put out close to 200hp. Yes, dave I remember that as well, the one cycle world rode had a 1125 powerplant.

To answer Dave_xb12r. Yes after reading the article again. (its been a few months) the test model did in fact have an 1125 engine. but the article did go into much detail on the revised engine specs for the B2. Which were as such. 157hp at 10,300 rpm's and the same 82 peak FP of torque as the 1125 motor. It also went from a 61 mm bore with the 1125 to a more street friendly 56mm bore on the unfortunate b2 engine. as for Red93stang, your friend may very well be correct. we are all familiar with differences in performance on a machine to what a magazine will publish for legal reasons, Im a mechanic myself and the advertised HP of the engines i work on is much lower then what they actually put out. for all we know it could have just been propaganda to give other manufactures hope before Buell crushed them with the B2. Im still optimistic a platform like the B2 has WAY to much potential to be left on the side lines.

if anyone els would like to read the article i am sure it can be googled. it was in the May 2010 issue of Cycle world. and the B2 was on the cover. should be easy to find.

possibly contact Cycle World on the website. i have purchased old issue's of other magazines in the past. Cycle world may do the same.
