kinda lost track of this post, sorry guys.

what tires are those Power Pures? how'd you get so many miles on one set!!!

those are the pilot power 2ct's I have about 9k miles on them right now but the rear is bald.

Did you have any bike issues? Also, what kind of oil did you run?

The bike ran better than I could have imagined. I put that thing through 30 degree weather to 120 degree weather. cruising at 80-90 mph for hours on end and it didn't even studder. and amsoil in both.

Im already shopping for my next trip, we decided to do cali again this year. perks of having a sister living in los angeles.

I do have a question for anyone reading this, I need a better windscreen this time, I'm 5'8. What will be better, a touring windscreen from asb, the 3 inch one, or the double bubble? any ideas?

How many stops for gas lol?

lol uuhh well whats 6700 divided by eh lets estimate every 120 miles...

solo almost 60 gas stops... well maybe more for the cigs on indian reservations :D

As a local Oregonian, Im glad you got to see some of awesome scenery.

yea it was beautiful there, but half the state was smoke in august!! that and whats up with your max speed limit of 55? that drove me nuts

Great trip and pics!

I did a double-take when I saw the ones of your R-faired S next to your bud's Connie; I ride an R and my bud rides a Connie too. :) I have the 3" taller screen and I did notice being less sore after a long day compared to when I had the stock screen installed. I have the stock bars, which I'm planning to replace with the taller ASB bars, so that might increase the wind blast on my chest/shoulders again (negating the taller screen's advantage - argh - but likely still better than stock). Oh, I'm 5'11". No experience with the double-bubble, so I can't comment on that.

I'm amazed at your mpg; I usually get 43-46. Maybe I need to increase my cruising speed to match yours. :)

You have to remember to, out west their gas is much more "pure" than out here in illinois. they throw soo much **** in the gas out here its ridiculous. Up in Oregon is where I got the best mileage. but It was a noticed increase once I hit the eastern gas stations of Wyoming.

And ok, I might end up trying the 3" If you can tell in the picture i kept my stock carbon windscreen on, but cut an old cracked double bubble to mount onto the carbon screen. It gave me about a 2.5" rise but the problem was the angle. it was aimed right at my upper chest and neck. If it were more curved at the top like the one asb has then it may have worked better.

I was going to buy the asb bars but a 1" rise just didn't seem like enough for that distance so I had a local welder friend give me a 3" rise on my stock bars. Almost sitting up straight.

I was wondering what was going on with your dual screens - sort of a DIY Laminar Lip. :) Speaking of, I wonder if mounting the orange screen in front of the carbon one would help? Also noticed the higher grips but didn't realize they were a full 3" higher than stock - impressive!

Interesting point about fuel purity. Here in Phoenix the gas has a lot of additives too, so that may be part of my problem. Looks like a northern road trip is called for.

well i was thinking about getting the 3" taller windscreen and if i still have issues, then I could mount the orange lip on the 3" screen to make it even taller.

Only issues with the 3 inch bars is at full turn Im hitting my fairing, but how often is that a serious issue? I had no problems.

If you find yourself heading up the coast again I would love to make a stretch of it with you guys.

Id love to meet up with some buellers. on that entire trip, I only saw one buell. that was a uly in northern arizona, we passed each other and did a double take. Id be all for that!

Oh man, this summer, I'm planning to ride my Lightning Long from Yuma to Glacier national park in MT, hitting all the national parks on the way up, hooking west to include Yosemite, the Redwoods, the Oregon scenery, and such.
If we are on the road at the same time, I wouldn't mind riding with a veteran of the terrain for a while.

Probably around the same time you were doin your ride, I drove (yeah, boring, but FWIW, it was a convertible! Haha) from Phoenix to Yellowstone. Awesome ride!

believe it or not but while I was heading to yellowstone we hit a lot of good desert roads and I remember thinking how sweet it would be to have my GTO out here. Sometimes I'm more in the mood to be in the car.

well ill be in that area in early august this year, It is on my plan to hit glacier this time. Last year we wanted to do that and highway of the gods, but we were running out of time, I had a work conference I had to get home to.
