Missed the 5000 service so besides changing the the fluids what else should I check/adjust/replace? Manual is a bit vague on intervals (to me) so any help here would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Jim

adjust the clutch! not just the cable but the clutch itself. it is easy and your bike will shift oh so much better. A rear wheel stand helps alot.

My bike just rolled over 6k too. I didn't do the 5k checkup because it was already fall, not to mention I didn't know what the intervals were. I'll have to get on that before spring gets here. I already planned on changing the oil and I assume that's 75% of the work.

If you have a 12 check the exhaust cable - mine was a bit loose at 5000 miles. Not in the manual but I would check your header nuts and any cover bolts that you can get to - I noticed some weeping from various covers at 5K from fasteners that had loosened. Hit all the stuff in the manual - throttle cables, exhaust fasteners, etc. Probably time for fresh brake fluid too.

[up][up]Sorry primary chain and clutch adjustment should go hand & hand. I thought i had a trans. problem till i got these adjustments correct. primary chain should be adjusted or at least checked every 1500 mi.
