Does anybody knownthe difference between the 6mm finned front rotor and the 5mm front rotor from EBR? Besides the obvious 5mm is thiner duh. Lol would I have to buy different pads for the 5mm?
Other than the thickness i would guess there would be a couple grams worth of weight loss in the 5mm for less unsprung weight as for pads i wouldnt think so since the pistons will squeze the pads in to mate to the rotor. I could be wrong about the pads but the 5mm rotor is on my list of goodies to spend money on lol.
I have a 5 mm. I ordered a 6mm but they were out of stock so ebr sent me the skinny one for the same price of 99 bucks. I was happy that day. I suggest getting the new mounting hardware if you purchase a new rotor.
Fwiw I have the lyndall gold pads and they work nice on the street but I get a lot of brake dust. The ebc sintered pads I had before didn't seem to do that but it also had a pulsing rotor. It's hard for me to blame the pads. I bought the bike used with 20k on it and that seems to be common for them to develop a pulse by then.
I was looking at two different pads the ebc sintered pad or the carbon Kevlar pads. I don't do track days but I do ride pretty hard when I can. Can't figure out which ones to get I hate choices sometimes lol.
I have the 6mm with the Lyndall gold pads... Those pads are not my cup of tea! [down][down] They have very little bite and don't feel like they will stop the bike, you have to really squeeze the lever to get it to stop. They are fine for easy street riding but they SUCK at the track and for aggressive street riding!
I have 2 rides on these pads, one break in ride of about 50 miles and one track day of 106 miles. I'll give em a little more time before I change to a different pad. - They do put out a lot of dust too. Must be an organic compound?
I had the EBC HH before with the stock rotor... better than the Lyndall but I really think the OEM pads had the best feel.
