So does anyone know anything about Air Cooled VW motors? Which ones have a history of being the most reliable. Also, anything on custom fabrication and building a custom buggy? I'm going to be going with a Berrien frame, and the build won't start until Feb/Mar but I need to start collecting information now.

Its all about the Porsche motors. Unless you wanna put my Acura GSR motor to good use.

I dunno about Berrien, they seem to be pretty old school with really short suspension travel. I think you should look into something more modern.

I'd love to have a Tatum, but for $80,000, there's a few other things I would buy first.

Using my GSR motor was kindof a joke. It would be REALLY hard being how it's for a front wheel drive car, and it's geared for the road. It is a 1.8 170hp, 128lb torque inline 4. But the Vtec would be fun!

I've driven a dune buggy with a stock VW motor, and although it had enough torque to get it up the dunes, it felt underpowered. Why not put in a Buell motor or a Vrod motor?
