So I took the airbox cover off my bike yesterday to check my air filter and this is what I find... is this correct? Do I leave it like this? I know this is a dumb question but this is my first Buell. Just want to make sure this is correct.

Is that set up recommended for that airbox? My airbox cover just sits right over that.

Thats not the stock but very common mod for your bike I would leave it that way.

Stock looks like this

Thanks everyone for your help. I'll try not to have such stupid questions in the future. Thats what sucks about buying used vehicles. You dont know what has been mod'd and if it was done correctly.

It's good. You'll hear the hammering of the engine much better.

Here's mine. Works for me.

I know this is kinda retarded question being Ive been here long enough to know the awnser...... Is there any benifit to doing the open airbox mod with a stock filter? My bike seems to be running a tad rich ( just from tail pipe observation) and I would like to do somthing to counteract the richness. Im planning on a K&N and Emc spy down the road.....just lookin at the freebee stuff right now. Buying a house has a tendency to make a man broke...:D

Im confused...with the airbox delete mod what happens to the electric plug and such that is on the top half of the box?

You can keep it up there if you have the stock 12 exhaust but once you put a new can on, the valve/harness aren't required. They can be removed completely or just tied off.

Thanks hummer...i didn't know that. My bike is completely stock. But I was wanting to do this mod. But I believe I will just cut most of the stock upper box out for more airflow until I have the funds to get a better exhaust.
