I installed a Jardine can on my '07 12r.

Question 1: The motor cuts when I let it idle. It drops to 500rpm and chugs a bit, trying to stay on, then dies. It revs fine and I can hold the throttle at idle right about the 500rpm mark and it's fine. Can I adjust the idle? If so, where is the adjustment knob?

Question 2: Can I remove the entire actuator thingie in the airbox that controlled the valve inside the stock exhaust? I already removed the cable but I don't see the point of that actuator if it doesn't do anything else for the bike. Just want to be sure before I remove it though.

I would be able to take care of both these things on my own buy my dealer sucks and they wouldn't give me an owners manual... they told me to get one on eBay. Nice, huh? Thanks in advance for any responses.

This is answered alot on here. Search it. But the ideal problem, you need a TPS reset. Get ECMSpy. Yes you can remove it.

Thanks

I did a search and couldn't find anything... I guess I'm searching wrong.

Is a TPS reset something I can do on my own or do I need to pay the devilship to do it? OR is that what ECMSpy is for?

I'll yank the actuator off ASAP.

Thanks!

Ecmspy cable is about 40 to 60 bucks and the program can be downloaded for free. Link you can get all that you need from this site, Mike can also help you with tuning if you need it. If you add a high flow filter like a K&N you will need to tune it or you will run too lean and damage the motor. YOu will be fine with just the can though the ecm will compensate for the extra air.

Thanks guys, would the ECMspy also be used to tune it with the K&N our would I have to buy one of the race ECM's?

Yes, your better off tuning with ecmspy and megalog viewer than a race ecm. Race ecm is mapped for the Buell race can and Buell high flow filter and you will not get the best tune.
If you want to tune your going to need a laptop or a palm Os a ecmspy cable 40 to 60 bucks $25 if you build it yourself, ecmspy (free) and Megalog viewer from megasquirt ($25). There is lots of online help when you need it. I was hesitant at first but I got a lot of info and help and just about got it nailed down now. My bike runs better than it ever has.

Right on, thanks a bunch Gator.

I'm gonna relax over the weekend and hit this head-on starting Monday. I'm sure I'll have more questions by then! [smirk]

morehpforme,

For Question 1:

Idle adjustment location and adjustment is explained here:Controls & Indicators. A little over halfway down the page it's discussed. (I had to adjust mine when I first got my bike also.)

For Question 2:

You can pull the whole thing off as everyone said, but you'll get a "Check Engine" light since the ECM is still looking for it. But you can turn that off with a simple checkbox in ECMSpy.

For an Owner's Manual:

You can get one off Ebay. But you can look at them FREE on www.Buell.com. Just register, which is free, and go to the "Owners" section and you'll have access to them.

You can also get a Free Service manual off here. It will be for an older model Firebolt but most of the basics will apply to your's as well. Click on the "Buell Service Manuals" link at the top of the page and you can download and save them to your computer. They're very handy. :)[up]
