so i installed a buell race muffler on my bike ('08 xb9sx) and have ridden it a couple of times (weather permitting). i'v read on here that the ecm will learn the pipe if i ride between 3000&4000 rpm for how long? will it stop backfiring all of a sudden and start running smoother or what? the discoloration on my header pipes is also creeping down towards the muffler. is there a reset or something the dealer can do? any replies would be a big help, thanks

1) race ecm
2) tps reset
3) learn in

if you use the search function you'll get a bunch of info to learn about the details.

oh crap...'08.

yea, run in closed loop (below 3500rpm), smooth low acceleration and preferable go @ steady speed for about 10 minutes.
it will run smoother and react faster.

for even better performance, remap your ecm.
