Ok so I am riding my XB12R today, starts right up everything is cool and so forth. After about I want to say 5-10 minutes, I look down and see a red light on which looks like 2 pistons. I never saw it before and wasn't sure what to make of it so I thought i would turn the bike off. So I did. About 10 seconds later I went to turn the bike back on and it won't kick over, the head light comes on is does the ticticticitcitctic but won't catch.
Lucky me I'm about .2 of a mile from my house so I push. Get home take off the seat, plug my charger on the battery for a minute or 2 and it kicks right over for me.
So if I could get any help, I'm thinking maybe the battery can't hold a charge? Or the alternator (if there is one I'm not sure) is not working properly.

Thanks for any help guys...

You think there is a code? Because when I pushed the bike back charged it and got it cranked and running the light was out. And the whole turn the key it comes on for 4 second and then goes out, well it doesn't come back on again. And I don't have the tool to check for codes. I guess I'll just bring it to the dealer?

you dont need a tool to check the codes just a jumper wire or paper clip then follow the instructions on octos link.

i had that issue and it was just a bad ground. the ground if u just bump it back to a good connection the bike works fine. id check the one right next to the battery.

It always turns on when the killswitch is clicked over to run. It'll turn off, and then it's safe to start the bike.

If it turned on after the bike was started, then your bike threw a code. It will store this code for the next 55 runs. Check your code and post back as to what it was.

My guess is the stator or voltage regulator is out. if the bike isnt holding a charge, that would be about the only thing that would be the issue, other than maybe a loose connection somewhere... Check the codes and see, it is probably one of these options, more than likely your stator though.
