I'm taking a class to get my concealed weapons permit later this month, and just curious if anyone has any issues sitting on their bike with a pistol on their side?

Pretty subjective depending on your build, what you carry and where, but a compact or sub-compact in an IWB tuck like a Crossbreed or Whitehat at the 4 or 5 o'clock position should work for about anyone. Access would depend on what you wear for gear and if that is priority a tank bag holster might be easier.

thanks for your input and that might be an issue i dont have a compact or subcompact just a full size 1911. I guess i'll have to test different ways of carrying to figure out what will work best.

LCP in the inside pocket of my riding jackett works fine, a shoulder rig under jackett would probably be fine. I often just toss it in the tank bag too. I usually carry on a empty chamber just in case I go down, don't want to shot myself on accident, but I've been taught by the military to charge a pistol one handed too.

I'm with Jonny - I tend to carry a 1911, either in a shoulder holster or in my tank bag.

LCP in pants pocket. But in all reality it would be a pain to get out.

Unzip jacket arm end to get glove off, then reach for weapon. Of course after being off of the bike and stand still, standing up so you can even get things out of your pocket.

Tank bag is okay, but I don't like the idea of the gun not being on myself.

What state do you live in? I typically open carry in PA while riding. We dont have a carry permit required to open carry, but on a motorcycle or in a car you have to have your License to Carry Firearms. OC is waaaaay more comfy when riding.

IWB crossbreed holsters for my Full size s&w .40. But I have to wear a back pack to make sure my shirt or jacket does not blow up when riding or just keep it in my backpack.. My co worjer rides with his in his boot, but a 1911 might not work there..

I'd hate to crash while carrying open. I can just see that handgun just go skittering across the pavement, getting all scarred up and scratched along the way.

thats what i worry about too. Not to mention the damage it might cause on impact. Dont need a puncture wound from a firearm. I wear a leather holster with a FBI cant just behind my hip. Who knows maybe it would work like a frame puck for my hip.

I dont carry my gun unless i have a coat on and its zipped up in the inside pocket. Im worried
About loosing it or people seeing it. It is a carry gun kel-tec p11.

My carry guns are far from safe queens. Thats why i keep my kimbers in the safe and my springfield champion on my hip :)

When i get my pistol it will be an open carry rider. To many ignorant college kids and high school kids around that like to mess with someone.

They dont understand how much damage they can cause with their "little pranks"

Also if i do open carry i highly doubt it will be a loaded mag. I would keep that separate. I know, i know that defeats the propose you say. But it actually wont to a certain extent, just seeing someone is loaded gets 95~98% of the people who would mess you to stand down. Thats what i want.

Kel Tec P32 or S&W Bodyguard inside jacket pocket. In last 11yrs. have Never, Ever, Not Even Once left home without. Every bit as important as my full face helmet, leather jacket, leather overpants, leather gloves and work boots.

I have also open carried my XDM, but conceal my pf9 99% of the time. On my ankle or in my pocket depending which boots I wear.

i carry a rifle :D

fits in my backpack perfect

I have actually carried an AR15 to the range a couple times. Can't imagine the thoughts of passers by...

why would you do that? seems more dangerous to carry an unloaded gun if you end up in a situation where you need it. if you are carrying just to scare people away from you while riding you might want to re-evaluate why you are carrying a gun. are you going to shoot someone if they do cut you off or try and entice you to race...i doubt it.
And i personally carry concealed 99% of the time but am not to worried if people get a glimpse of it when i bend over or reach for something. Some states have brandishing laws but if OC is allowed i wouldn't be too worried if someone sees it or not.
