Without watching the video, how the hell can a flat tire corner better than a rounded one? Maybe for a 'busa going across iowa

ive never heard of this. seems like a crazy idea. i like how in the first video he goes 45-50 around a 30mph curve...i normally hit those at 60-70 around here

I know a guy that has a car tire on his Harley. We took the MSF rider coach class together. He was able to do the 20 foot box on his bike with the car tire. He said it was a little different what he first started riding on it. I have personally ridden with him and he is no slouch on that bike. He said the main purpose he did this because he could get more miles out of it.

haha people are ridiculous. The only reason I'll accept someone putting a car tire on their bike is if they ride a boss hoss. There's a huge difference between a round motorcycle tire and a worn one, I can't even imagine a car tire. If I couldn't afford a motorcycle tire, I'd much rather just buy a cheaper motorcycle than sacrifice on parts.

That looks like a bad idea! Car tires are not meant to be riding on the side walls like that. Don't even wanna know what would happen if one blew out!

If it was that cool...
1. It would be super popular
2. They would have that set up on race bikes.
3. Manufacturers would have that set-up on new bikes, they want the best/ newest stuff on the new bikes coming out
4. Its not

Totally and completely different requirements (car and bike).

Someone who says that without a big grin is trying to kill you.
Why would you even remotly consider that as even a sorta true statement ?

Some 30 years ago, in Finnish (& Swedish) chopper scene, it was very common to put a car tyre on a chopper. It was also quite common to fab a rear wheel from V-Dub's one.

Some people still do it, when they want to build a "period correct ride". They say a car tyre (with slightly lower pressure than recommended for normal use) is more convenient than a motorcycle tyre in a hard tail chopper, since the sides of the car tyre are softer.

only maybe if I had a Can-Am, or a trike....
I know this though, on my original dunlap MC rear tire was worn very very flat across the center and when I would start to corner and get into my lean it would feel like it was falling and slipping out from under me as it rolled off and past the flat area's edge. not fun at all ! cant imagine how a small car tire (even if extremely overinflated to help round it a little ) of how that would feel riding on the edge of the tread area or side wall when corning and think of how little of a contact patch you have at that point compared to a real MC rear tire contact patch!!

after watching the videos they dont ride on the sidewall really but even so I wouldnt trust that on any sort of sport bike or even anything except a car it just looks like the contact patch gets way to small

Maybe for Drag racing or to do burnouts on otherwise you are a burnout. I would like to see someone do the Dragons tail on one of these. Stupid[down]

For some dumb gorilla on a stretched out dropped into the weeds cruiser it's probably fine (they can't corner anyway) but to anyone who's bike doesn't require you to lean to the right just so you can get the kickstand to go down it's GOING to make the bike handle like garbage, just ask anyone who's ridden enough highway to flatten out the center of a sportbike tire how it feels on turn-in. [down] A bike needs that rounded profile to allow good turn-in and lean angles. No way. no how, no chance would I EVER run one on a sportbike (or any other bike for that matter) and I live in Indiana, the land of the straight and boring road.

Funny thing is, they all claim they run them for the increased tire life (which I won't dispute). Cruiser tires can run 15-20k mi and generally cost less than sportbike tires. Imagine the fit those numbskulls would have if they had to deal with 3-5000mi change intervals! Even a good sport/tour tire only gets you about 10k. Personally, I'll suffer with shorter tire life to get a correct profile and have a good handling bike.

My dad runs them on his cruiser. He likes the wet weather traction and how long they last. He says cornering at first is a bit sketchy. Anyways I would NEVER throw em on a sport bike

on a touring bike where you're gonna drop a thousand miles or more of superslab in one trip (like if I go visit my parents in TX from MI), I could see this... easily.

That being said. I don't own a touring bike and if I am driving that far I want AC and a reclining seat so I can sleap while my GF drives part way :p

I'm sure that all the money put into research and development my the motorcycle and tire manufacturers is probably not as good as a couple jack wagons. No, this totaly makes sense to me. EVERY motorcycle producer has no clue and should be throwing whatever for rubber on their bikes! What a bunch of dumb asses they all are for using motorcycle tires!(note HEAVY Sarcasm) ha ha ha
