Hey, has anyone flipped their shift pattern over to 1 up 4 down? Was fine on my RS125 race bike and my old GPz. Just wondering.

Thanks, Wayne

I just put on some rizoma rearsets and they came with the gp shift pattern. I have to say that it definitely takes some getting used too. Due to weather I haven't really been able ride it hard yet but it seems like it will workout pretty well.

I flipped my stock setup around and like it a lot better, plus its just another way to be "different"

I learned on a bike that was reversed and it took awhile to get used to this way on my first Yamaha. I think its easier the race setup.

How do you flip your shift set over to the race pattern?

Is it as simple as flipping the linkage?

got a post here about that...long time ago.

in short, just turn the shifter linkage 180°

I Have a Billit Reverse shift lever for sale if you're interested. Does away with all the linkage and looks WAY tricker than stock.
here's a link:

$50 gets it shipped to your door.(as long as you're in the U.S.)
just a Q...

how would you shift when you linkage is way up there and your footpeg in way down there [confused]

also, the linkage is there for easier shifting (leverage)...i would like to see a picture on the bike.

Ok, to the guys who have flipped over their shift linkage....do ya have any problem with the shift lever "hanging up" as in it will shift into 2nd but the lever doesn't return for the shift into 3rd? This seems to happen more when the bike is cold. Think it's cold tranny fluid? A weak return spring?
The bike is brand new (200 KM) about 120 miles.

Thanks again, Wayne

LeFox,
The Lever bolts directly to the upper shaft and faces down and backwards to your foot. when you go up or down with your foot it acts directly on the shift shaft and changes the gear.
The stock linkage dosen't give any "leverage" advantage at all. it's just a location thing. and the bike seemed to shift easer (or at least the same) as with the stock linkage. (I'd guess easer since you don't have any "Mechanical" loss of force through the linkage.)
If I Have time I might reinstall it on the bike and take a pic.

flipping the linkage should have no influence on the return (unless you tightened the bolt on the linkage too hard?)

what oil are you using?
