The "Race only" Ecm has the race maps on it.

If it is not running properly you may only need a TPS reset.

What intake and exhaust do you have?

Welcome Dman.

well i can't re-create the injector short, im sure it will present itself the next time i'm in the middle of nowhere but for now its good.

also blew out a rocker box gasket bad enough to spray oil all over the rear cylinder and my leg. put a new one in, runs much better than before

think i narrowed my other running issues down to a bad tps. looked at it on ECMspy while hooked up to my pc and while holding the throttle anywhere above 50% open the values fluctuate. wont hold steady anywhere besides WOT and below 50% open.
this is symptomatic of a bad tps right?

a 42mm mikuni flatslide is looking more enticing by the minute

You have way more control over your tuning with FI. Get the TPS straightened out, do some datalogging, run the logs through MLV VEanalyzer & make custom maps for your setup. You won't believe the difference it makes...

I don't doubt you can fine-tune a little better with FI but carbs are what i know in and out.

I'll give the FI a little more of a chance before i tear it apart...i'll probably eventually switch to carb anyway. just a matter of preference

I understand some people seem to just want carbs, but once you figure out FI it is actually much simpler than carbs, it is more reliable, gives more power, and better mpg. Just better all around. Also less maintenance, and easier to troubleshoot most times. I hated FI before I understood it, but after you figure it out it's a piece of cake (the basics). And just about every bike, car, etc. system is the same, with minor differences.

im not about to spend money on a pc for data logging when i have two mikuni 42mm flat slide carbs laying around.

I hear you....JMO from my experience. Most people have a laptop now a days so it's usually not much of an investment just for tuning.
