Thanx on the garage. I just thought the base looked incomplete with the lock taps sticking out and wrapping around the air snorkel like it did. Looks much better to me.

I cut the entire bottom off except for where the filter seals, then used a Spec-ops heat shield. Look okay to me, but would love to be able to "shave" the frame of the left over mounting points.

I haven't had any problems with the velocity stack holding up the filter yet either - that's pretty much what's holding everything up.

Not really a good definition of what i did , but hopefully pics speak ..

hardware

stock air box bottom used threaded lined bushing to push through the holes on the bottom cover

piece of aluminum cut to air filter then sand blasted (courtesy of Hawk)

mounted stainless steel bolts with chrome washers

added the caps they are the same size as the washers giving the one piece look

thanks firefighter ! only thing expensive is the chrome hardware but it really makes it attractive to look at .. instead of 2 nasty bolt heads
