Thanx on the garage. I just thought the base looked incomplete with the lock taps sticking out and wrapping around the air snorkel like it did. Looks much better to me.
 
I cut the entire bottom off except for where the filter seals, then used a Spec-ops heat shield. Look okay to me, but would love to be able to "shave" the frame of the left over mounting points.

I haven't had any problems with the velocity stack holding up the filter yet either - that's pretty much what's holding everything up.

thanks firefighter ! only thing expensive is the chrome hardware but it really makes it attractive to look at .. instead of 2 nasty bolt heads
