Armored Vest.......Who has one?

i did say you have to modify them.  and the intercepter vest was not bulky at all. thats why the Marines loved it so much because they were small and light weight. they did leave the arms vulnerable though.

Add some level IV plates and you'll be good to go if someone decides to drive-by you with an AP 30-06 round too!!!

Seriously though, wearing an actual (as in bullet proof) armor carrier on a motorcycle is kinda retarded IMO.

haha true may be alittle funny. But those vests are not bullet proof unless you have the sappy plates( bullet proof seramic plates ) installed. they aer classified as bullet resistent. many armored riding vests hold the same protection. with out the plates the vests are flexible and confortable. We used them for PT. My Marines and i would run in them for 5+ miles at a time. trust me if they were really as bulky as people think, we would not do it. for training or anything els. It was just anoher idea that people may think was uncommon, and an interesting eye turner. Not to mention they are a great platform for any patches.

On the other hand, insulting people with out doing reserch is cool too. i guess.

o.k. interceptor body armor has three layers. the abrasion resistant cordura outer shell. the "bullet proof" lining is a kevlar liner that will theoretically prevent up to 9mm ball ammunition from penetrating. Then there are the plates back in 06 they were original sapi plates that could stop a 7.62. there are now 3-4 generations as the design is still evolving in search of a mo betta mo stonga mo lighta version. Hopefully we all convert to the damn plate carriers as the "9mm liner" doesn't stop shrapnel which is 99% of the time what is striking the areas covered by the kevlar. didn't mean to rant or bitch you out for the suggestion it was just a bit out there.

My Marines and i would run

on that note. . . I apologize for making fun of the mentally challenged. GO ARMY!

LOL army always instults till they need our help. (every day)

The plate carriers are definatly nice. i deployed in march 09 for 13 months. they gave me a new flack jacket... dont even know what its designated. it was HUGE and hard to move in. our marsoc units used the plate carriers because the alternative was to bulky. My point is, by the time i had left in April 2010 there was something new already coming down the ramp. Ive used everything from the old green flacks with no plates to what we have now. i would still take the intercepter over all of them. Which was Why i turned one into a riding vest. Picked up a tun of attention.
I was on a harley at the time though. so different crowds may take the idea differently.

i guess that makes sense why you think they are so bulky. haha i cant remember the last time i saw a soldier use one properly anyway.

but you dont have to worry, we got your back. SEMPER FI!

i have the field armor vest, its great but i live in NY so it gets cold. if i where you id get the icon field armor vest, elbow and knee pads. you'll feel funny but youll be well protected

which one though? original, Mil Spec, or Stryker.

I like the Mil Spec just because its more visable, but I also like the Stryker because of the styling.....just wish the red was reflective yellow.

On second thought the red would tie in with my gloves and the adjusters on my brake/clutch leavers......:D

phil190........you wouldnt happen to have a pic of it with you wearing it would you. Im 6'2 and about 250 lbs so Im kinda wondering if Im just a bit big for a vest.

Eagle Industries makes a great one that the military uses. but you have to buy the plates separately and they are a couple grand depending on the level of protection you want.

For some reason those links on the first post don't work anymore. But I rock the Icon Stryker vest. I love it. Yeah having the arm guards would be nice but if I was really concerned id throw on one of my jackets.

Yeah Nik,
I sewed them on the softer padded parts. Figured I'd rep the buell brand as well as serve remember those who died in 9/11. My bike got me in the habit of customizing everything now. lol Even though i'm selling my Buell and moving on to a victory cruiser, respect never goes out of style. I have since altered it again to take care of the high rise in the front. I took and alpine stars kidney belt and tacked it to the lower front to provide more coverage. I'll put up a pic later.
