Anyone have one, pros and cons. Im thinking of getting one for running ECMspy and dataloging with it. Among other things.

I have a 701

Knowing what I know now...
IBM's Lenovo S10 is where the money is at...

Actual 2.5" SATA HDD, which is replaceable
10.1" 1024x600 pixel widescreen
upgradeable memory (up to 2GB)
built-in SD memory card reader
express card slot for whatever you want to add, (3G, etc)
comes with windows and almost no junkware
etc...

the down side?

no bluetooth from the factory... there was a snafu with the FCC apparently, according to the research done at s10lenovo.com. It seems that ibm was planning on using a certain bluetooth chip model when the sent the laptop to the fcc for certification, but when they went to produce the laptop full scale, the chipset was discontinued for a newer revision. to re-certify the laptop would have taken months, so ibm said 'screw it' and removed bluetooth.
The good news, you can get a S10 bluetooth chip + cable from ebay, and plug it into your S10 without voiding any warranty, and it will work with the laptop's wireless switch.

So all that being said, I paid US$399 for my 7" eeePC 4G model a few months ago. Now, I can get a IBM quality, lenovo S10 with a real HDD and a windows XP licence for the same price. Well I can get one for $367 shipped with a discount from my work, so now I really want one. It's a sexy netbook!

I hoped this helped, even though I didn't say much about the eeePc 900 / 901

check out the websites over at http://www.eeeuser.com

the forum and wiki has been a great help when i was working with my 701

The 900 -
* 1.6GHz Intel Mobile CPU
* 1GB RAM
* 160GB Hard Disk
* 8.9" Widescreen Display
* Integrated Camera and Microphone
* 802.11b/g Wi-Fi
* Windows XP Home
* 2.5 lb
For $319 with rebate and there is already a youtube step by step mod to go to 2G RAM.
Hell thats better than my home PC.

Actually, the rumor is next revision of eeePC's will come with a touch screen... Might want to look into that...

Yea I read that too, but with the Atom processor and touch screen the price will be threw the roof. Its already up there with the Intel Atom, the price jumps $200 bucks. I just want something cheep that I can just throw in my pack and do some ecmspy and be in constant contact with this forum :p via Wi-Fi locations.

hey, my eeepc 701 4G would do the trick.... how does ecm spy work? USB? serial?

Did anyone ever get a chewed down version of XP and ECM spy to work on a eeepc 701 4gb or as a persistant XB boot drive? I have one 701 laying around and would love to have it set up as a lightweight tuning/logging xb hackbox.
Only thing better than that would be if someone had it set up on an old sony ux permanently mounted under the pillion and powered off the battery. A self contained tuning/logging xb system.
