I have a 701
Knowing what I know now...
IBM's Lenovo S10 is where the money is at...
Actual 2.5" SATA HDD, which is replaceable
10.1" 1024x600 pixel widescreen
upgradeable memory (up to 2GB)
built-in SD memory card reader
express card slot for whatever you want to add, (3G, etc)
comes with windows and almost no junkware
etc...
the down side?
no bluetooth from the factory... there was a snafu with the FCC apparently, according to the research done at
s10lenovo.com. It seems that ibm was planning on using a certain bluetooth chip model when the sent the laptop to the fcc for certification, but when they went to produce the laptop full scale, the chipset was discontinued for a newer revision. to re-certify the laptop would have taken months, so ibm said 'screw it' and removed bluetooth.
The good news, you can get a S10 bluetooth chip + cable from ebay, and plug it into your S10 without voiding any warranty, and it will work with the laptop's wireless switch.
So all that being said, I paid US$399 for my 7" eeePC 4G model a few months ago. Now, I can get a IBM quality, lenovo S10 with a real HDD and a windows XP licence for the same price. Well I can get one for $367 shipped with a discount from my work, so now I really want one. It's a sexy netbook!
I hoped this helped, even though I didn't say much about the eeePc 900 / 901
