please any ideas would be greatly appreciated. i bought my first buell 2004 firebolt xb12r bout 8 months ago and i am slowly trying to restore it. thing is i never heard it run but for a grand i figured what the heck. i have had lots of other bikes in the past so i can work on them a little. now to the point. started checking the bike and had no spark so i replaced the coil, plugs and wires and got good spark. still no start. with fire i moved to fuel and discovered low fuel pressure so i replaced fuel pump assy and now have good fuel and spark. i try to start and all it will do will maybe pop once or twice thru the exhaust but seams to be after i let go of the starter button? also i have replace the cam sensor and i went by the manual as far as timing. is it possible that the timing could be of with the cams? i can tell by the cover someone has monkeyed with the cover in the past. i have ecm spy also and the only code im getting is the exhaust valve thing. please some one tell me where to go from here!!!!

Are you getting a good TPS signal?
Without the ECM and TPS communicating the bike won't run.
If you set the static timing using ECMspy and the manual I'm sure you're timing is good.
Only way to screw up the actual timing with the cams is to take apart the rocker boxes/top end, remove the cam cover and physically move the cams.
Did the PO mess with the internal workings of the engine?
If you have anymore background info on the bike it could be helpful.
