Back on a Buell

Sold my 2003 xb9s about 3 years ago (after breaking my right leg in a ski accident). Took delivery of a 2008 xb12scg today. Can't stop looking at it in the garage, great to have a Buell back in the stable.

Headed out this weekend to get some new riding gear, shorter signals, plates, and a saws-all to chop the tail and should be riding by next weekend. Can't wait to get out on the Colorado twisties.

Get a handheld grinder, even one from harbor freight. Makes cutting the tail cheap and easy. Grinder and cut off blades and a a grinding pad will run about $30. Btw pics or it didn't happen

i chopped my last tail with a corded sawsall with a metal cutting blade and i have a grinder in the garage. worked great last time, but I do already have a handheld grinder with a cutting wheel. ill give that a go i suppose.

here is my old bike prior to cleaning up the race can and removing the belt guards. i loved this little thing. not the best shot of the chop, but the only pic i have.

super clean. 6000 well-cared-for miles. Excited to have it. Amazing the difference between the 9 and 12. the 12 is one low-end SOB

Put on new signals and chopped the tail today. Cutting wheel, hacksaw and a metal grinding wheel. Drilled the signal mounting holes and didn't think it through all the way. Had to grind down one of the flange nuts to get it all mounted up.

Nice, that is the way it is supposed to be painted black on the bottom to match the undertray and the silver left to match the rails.

Tail chop done. Made a quick license plate bracket last night and mounted/blacked it out.

cleaned her up after a great ride today in Denver. 78 degrees and gravel-free mountain roads.

Were you riding the other direction on the connector to 470/285? I swear I saw this same bike a few days back going the other way on my 1125.

Last night, took off exhaust, sanded and resprayed with high temp flat black. Was all rusted and flaking.

All cleaned up after zipping around morrison, evergreen, and blackhawk.
