i stripped down my 2004 Buell xb12r Firebolt yesterday since my bike is only running on one cylinder and i wanted to see if it was plugs, plug wires, or the coil that was causing this issue. however when i stripped down the bike i noticed that the TPS is damaged, the black wire leading to the TPS is completely out of the sensor and the green wire is hanging on by very little to the fps. the red wire leading to the TPS however is still completely in place. I'm going to replace the TPS anyway but i was wondering if this is most likely the issue causing the bike to run on one cylinder. also do i have to order the OEM TPS, or is there a different TPS that will possibly be cheaper in cost but not in build quality?
Backround:
Took the bike out for a ride a couple weeks ago and ran fine for the first 4 miles. i stopped at a light then continued on about 3/4 of a mile past the light, the Buell started running erratically on one cylinder and i received a check engine light. i figured it was a fouled plug but when i changed the plugs it didn't fix the issue. anyone have this happen? and if so what was the cause and solution?
