I'm trying to decide what type of mirrors to put on my XB12S. I kinda like the Aprilia ones on ASB, but then I got to thinking about Bar-end types which i've never had before. My concern is the way i always grab/let go of the hand grips, its like I slide my hands off the ends, rather than lift straight up. So i'm envisioning hitting the mirrors everytime if I go with the bar-ends. I just want to know what anyones experience is with them who has switched to the bar-end type.
Thanks

oberon's can be fitted below, so you can still slide your hand of the grip ;)

This is true with Oberon's, also check out the moto delux Ebay store. I have a set of their bar ends and I absolutely love them, no vibration and they stay right where I put them.

CRG's bar end mirrors can also be fitted below.

Vibration is also down to zero.

Only down side i have found is i find it difficult to judge how fast someone is coming at you from behind ... but there are solutions ... always look over your shoulder when changing lanes (did this with other mirrors as well) and ... just go faster than everyone else :D

I converted to a single left bar end hung below the bars and I love it. I think I see better behind me with the single mirror then the two factory mirrors because now theres no vibration.

no vibration you say? that would definitely be a big plus for me, I'll have to look up the ones mentioned and see what I think.
Thanks for the info all !

I've got my bar-ends wrapped in an under my handle bars. Only have to change 'em ifin' I've got a passenger. My bags don't block 'em.

Everyone always asks the same question. Don't they get in the way of your hands? And the answer's no.

And there's no vibration either. Clear as a bell...

I'm a big fan of the Aprilia's and they are a direct. easy replacment. At 20$ per mirror they are a good bang for the buck.

I can say from experience they don't vibrate and they stay in place. They also come with a nice rubber sleeve to cover the mounting bolt and keep water out if it.

Fidosol - I went with your recommendation , mostly based on price. installed them yesterday and after one day and night full of riding, I must say they're pretty nice. still have to get used to looking in a different place. but there's no vibration at all, and the picture is so clear. I think it's gonna turn out great in the long run. [up] for you
Thanks! [cool]

I'm a little late to the party, but never miss a chance to pimp pictures of the ride. I love my Oberon's - stupid expensive but you can't beat the looks.

Glad to hear it Odin, thanks for the rep point, make sure to post up a couple pics of it with the mirrors on.

My friend got the Oberon. He bought them after i had the CRG split lane LS. The CRG's are in my opinion better and look better. Otherwise Rizoma have true state of the art versions, that must be regarded as the most high quality pieces. The CRG's are spot on with CRG levers and Crossroads bar though. You won't regret them.

sinpieces - you are full of pooh :p

Oberon's are da bumb! But I might be biased.

Hahaha.... they are not bad at all.
The best i have seen is still my retro class mirrors from Rizoma. They are super. But, they won't work good with my bar and the CRG levers. The CRG LS are really super. I really think they are nicer than the Oberon. Still, Oberon are nice. Am i the fart of he week now:D

Odin - I think it is really cool that you pulled the front brake lever off. Is it hard to stop with just the rear brake?

It's still there, just hard to see because of the angle that he has the bars turned. You can just barely see the top of the lever above the right side of the throttle grip. ;) I know I personally wouldn't recommend pulling the front brake lever off anything, especially a Buell. Our back brakes leave a lot to be desired when it comes to stopping power.....in my opinion.

Yeah i had to look at my picture again to see what you were talking about. I'd never recommend that on any bike. You don't want to give away 70% of your braking power like that. Trust me it's there, i'd never make that kind of mechanical change!

Hey EVLXB,
Try just driving around your neighborhood at low speeds while only using the rear brake and then let us know how it felt.
