I was checking out my bike tonight and I noticed that my belt has a small gap between the lip on the pulley and the belt. Im not sure if its new or its been that way for a while. This is my first belt drive bike so I dont know if this is normal, any input would be great.

my belt on my xb is like that. i think its my belt though. im about to order a new one

Im pretty sure the belt is just fine. Just wanted some peace of mind from members who are more knowledgeable than me as to whether or not Ive got a problem that could be unsafe. Ive got about a month before my first track day/performance riding school so im getting the bike ready for that.

KMAN here are you doing yours? I'm staring mine with team Chicago at Grattan speedway in western Michigan. April 2nd I'm excited.

I'll be going with 2Fast at Pacific Raceway outside of Seattle on May 11.

Looks fine, mine use to be like that but for some reason it isn't anymore. Never had any issues and put a few thousand mikes on it so I say ride it.

Thats what I thought, just wanted to be sure before I put it on the track.

I will find mine like that about once a season or two. I just push it back over with my fingers, and it is fine for another 3k miles.

I've ridden mine 8000 miles like that with no issues , had the dealer check it when I bought the bike and they said it was fine.

I just put 100 miles on it today and it looks the same, but there is no unusual vibrations or anything so Im not worried about it. Just gonna ride it like i stole it.

There is a metal guide on the internal side of the belt, is quite delicate, for some reason, moved externally. Have a look to it, better to talk to a mechanic and move it back to the right position. The bike runs fine even with half belt, but, long term may be a stop in the middle of nowhere.
cheers

my belt was the same way. While we were at the dragon RT fixed it... bike stand and ratchet strap... he will probably correct me in a bit when he gets back to the computer and explain what he did though lol

More likel someone had the rear wheel off and the bearing stuchk and spread the swing arm..

How to fix pretty easy.
lossen axle pinch bolt
wrap a ratch strap around the swing arm and sqeeze it back togther (don't get crazy just the amount of the gap.)
Tighten pinch bolt
Release ratch strap.
Just did this on cherry's Bike at the Dragon when i realized it was gapped out pretty good.

I was recently at erik buell's shop and I had danny come out and look at mine because it also does that. He said some possible things causing it would be the pulley itself being loose, the rear tire being loose, or the bearings.

Tried it, no change.

Pulled it all apart, put it all back together and still the same way. I checked torque on everything, its all good.
