Best exhaust for v8 like sound?

Love my hawk. Went to the Devils bowl last fall, when the Monte Carlos came out my buddy leaned over and said "Sounds like your bike!" Likening my bike to 15 racing Montes was one of the best compliments I've gotten.

I have a Jardine GP 1 on mine I like it and it sounds good but it's not right for my type of riding for RPM range. Jardine is more higher RPM, D&D is more MID rage witch is more my style. When this Exhaust dies I'm buying the D&D love the way they sound to.

So D&D[up]

Went from Buell Race Exhaust to a bike with D&D and the difference is unbelievable! So much more mid torque and so. very. much. louder... I also like that video of the bike sounds.

The Hawk exhaust sounds similar to a 350 big block Chevy. They're cheap and Randy Hawk is a stand up guy. He modifies your stock exhaust for less than half the price of D&D.

Having said that, D&D WOULD be my pipe of choice. Doesn't sound much like a V8; just a solid monster V-twin tone! If they weren't so expensive, I would be running one.

Drummer exhaust is what I'm running. Real throaty rumble. I love it. It came on the bike when I bought it and I just can't make myself pay the kind of $$$ for a D&D when the Drummer sounds darn good already. Maybe later down the road :D

Things light this cracks me up . a V-twin will never sound like a V8. Just like my Brothers dealer told him with the right exhuast his 950 V-star will sound just like a Harley. But I think for the best sound I heard it is a drumer.

our v-twins are throaty even with a stock exhaust
HELL NO they dont! They sound like damn sewing machines. I couldn't stand the sound of my bike with stock exhaust.
D&D, Jardine or GB [up] All 3 are straight through designs that give that loud V-twin note...

onelogue - I agree with you on the stock, sounds like a lawnmower to me.

I don't have much experience with the Jardine, but I would definitely not put the d&d and the GB in the same catagory. The d&d is just nasty loud, all the time. The GB has a very mellow thump at idle and low rpm's, then really growls higher. Much quieter than the d&d (at least the two d&d's I've had on my bike), especially at idle and low rpm's.

well if you can find a way to do this that wont cause the motor to foul plugs every time you ride just take off the muffler

a friend took a video of me while i drove around the parking lot at work before i put my muffler back on....it sounds beast

I have a carbon Jardine on mine and I don't think it is terribly loud. It is a little annoying on long rides because it just drones but I have never heard a D&D to compare it to..It seems most people think the D&D is the loudest besides custom systems obviously.

OH Man, there are soooo many to choose from. I settled on the Drummer SS for my 08-XB12R, simply for the Performance.Works really well. The sound is an extra A+, Old School sound meets newer XB bike . Every time I go by the race track for some small parts .They always say they can tell, That's Devil Dog Jimi coming in! The Micron is w/the headers Perfect for the XBs(hard to find! [D & D is also well liked,] The Voodoo muffler sounds Awesome. Hopefully you can find one. Check out some of the many Buell exhaust videos here & The You Tube videos' you will find something you'll like . There's an Econo Drummer as well for the budget wise. KD Fabrication in North Carolina Has tested his on the track with his own bikes. Most think THATS TOO much money for a exhaust. Remember though do you just want sound ? I'm a Track junkie so I need Performance and the sound is just A sweet bonus.Have fun w/it.~Jimi

Right you are Wolf. The beauty of a V-twin is that it DOESN'T sound like a V8. You can make a bike as loud as you want, but it'll never sound like a Mustang GT and that's a good thing! I love loud engines more than anybody, especially on bikes. If you want loud, D&D or straight pipe it. For a rumble, Drummer or Hawk. I'd be running straight pipes 24/7 if I wasn't scared about screwing my XB up internally. Some never experience any problems besides low bottom end. Others burn heads and all kinds of crap.

I'll get off my soapbox now :)
