Just wondering if anyone has reviews on intercom systems that work exceptionally well?

I know it has been covered, but I haven't looked into it in a year or two and thought someone might know of a new one that does a great job.

One that doesn't get mentioned as often is the UClear HBC200. My wife and I use them. I like them really well.
They are small, boomless, and had the longest range last year when I was looking. They recently came out with an update to make them compatible with other brands.

wolfo- glad you posted this. Didn't know that there was previous threads on this. Just started thinking about this lately.

Sext9- do you have a set of these? I'm running Deans full RT-4 exhaust on my 1125 and it would take a good set to be heard above it. Tried listening to my I-Pod while riding, but the only time I can make out whats playing is when I am at idle at a light. lol.

Logix, with the 1125 and deans exhaust its going to come down to how well your ears are insulated inside your helmet. My helmet has a similar system (blinc) built into it but also basically has ear muffs built in as well so my ears are fairly well insulated from outside noise. I can hear my music if its almost full blast and talk back and forth between my wife but talking back and forth is difficult you will be screaming lol.

I do have a set of them. I've been running them a little over a year. I have a race exhaust on the XB. I'm impressed with how well they sound. My helmet is a Reevu unit that filters out some noise and is relatively quiet. With the visor up and about 70mph I can hear them with good quality at 75% volume. But then they were originally designed for open face helmets. My wife's helmet is open face with a uclear. She listens to her iphone with it, and I can understand her reasonably well when she talks. That's saying a lot since she thinks I don't pay attention to her when we're in the car.

The only issue I've had so far has been because I use a full face helmet. Other people had trouble understanding what I was saying on the phone. It was due to either thick padding or reverberation inside the helmet. I couldn't figure which one it was. But, I purchased their pro microphones which places the mics in the padding above the eye brows. It solved that problem.

I don't know how much louder your exhaust is over the race exhaust. I did a 4 into 2 straight pipe exhaust on my sons Yamaha R6 last year. There is no hope of hearing the uclear units on that bike. But at end of a 15 minute ride on it I can't hear anything anyway. He rides with ear plugs.

I hope the information helped. Let me know if I can answer any more questions.

With the Chatterboxes we have, we wear disposable earplugs. Believe it or not, it makes the sound much better and much easier to hear.

I've got a Scala G9 and gave a friend my old G4 and they work really well. I can even hear it over my race pipe. My friend still has the stock pipe on his XB so I don't know how it would be with a louder pipe.

No worries.

The race pipe is actually fairly quiet.

I've been partial to the Scala's, but I like the uclear HBC200 Sext9 put up there.

I have the uclear hbc200 setup also...so far I really like it. The music is good but I had a hard time hearing people during phone calls. I went and bought the earbuds and love them, great sound and plenty loud enough. I was on a ride with 3 of my buddies who also have them and they worked perfectly together. The hop technology was awesome, it didnt matter where we were in line....we were always linked up. It also works good with the gps, ipod. They were a good purchase for me...just get the upgraded speakers if you get a set, they're much better than the old design.

Scala g4. Can hear music fairly well with Keda-RT3 on the 1125R. although have not tested coms yet with wife since I installed KEDA. I used to have an FMF which was also fairly loud and we heard each other fine. I do think it has a lot to do with your helmet too... if you don't have a quiet helmet it may not be as easy to hear.

My helmets are pretty well insulated, so I'm not really worried about outside noise. I'm interested in the talking aspect because I'm getting pretty serious with a girl that loves to ride with me and we would like to be able to talk while we are on the longer rides. I also think she wants to control my music, but that's another side of the issue. lol

I use the Scala Rider G9. I can heat music clearly without it being so loud that I can't hear anything around me. When I had a low end Icon helmet, there was a ton of wind noise and it was hard to talk to another rider, but now that I have a Scorpion Exo-1100 it is just like having a face to face conversation. Never had a problem with the race muffler on my 12R, but when my buddy would get his R1 over 10K RPM's, it was screaming in my ears over the intercom!

wow, that's exactly what I'm going through also. She went for a half hour ride for the first time last week. Now I can't get her to want to stop. :D
