Well, I have a 2007 xb12s with hawk muffler, kn, open air box, and breather re-route using ngk iridiums8 and at first I used a race map and the bike felt great but lost some top end and popped alot. I did tps reset and couldnt get it perfect but ran well. After talking to cycle rama tech, I decided to try the stock map with the o2 sensor off and I cant believe I am getting way better results. Of course the best map would be a long days of dyno mapping but that cost hundreds and I dont have that much. So for now stock map, will be my best pick til oneday I can afford to custom map.

turning the o2 sensor off allows the bike to run a lil richer than stock. Being that with a kn and hawk muffler more air goes in and wants to come out exhaust, if the o2 is on, it may run too lean. So running it with o2 off doesnt allow the ecu to configure the mapping to run lean. I tried both ways after several runs and felt a better result with o2 off. Thats my opinion though.

i may be wrong but with the 02 off your bike cant use its readings to self adjust and it doesn't always lean your bike out it just tries to correct the afv. if you can dig deep enough into your bike to turn your 02 sensor off, you should at least log some rides and adjust from those logs and that way you can leave your 02 sensor on.

Mine ran fine with the race tune.

Jabaniz is somewhat correct. The O2 doesn't necessarily lean out the bike. However, it usually does from what I've seen on mine. It's one big multiplier, so if 90% of your table is rich, it'll lean out everything, including the remaining 10% that was lean already. Mine was great, then learned to suck. It ran stronger slightly rich, but learned to run stoich and lost power. Idle was stoich already, and learned to become lean and stall.

What I'm working on now, is datalogging and tuning everything to stoich, which is all you can do with the stock O2. Then I'm gonna richen up the fuel a bit in the mid to high range for power, and disable the O2. I have a laptop, so all it cost me was a $30 cable to connect to the bike.

If you don't have time to tune, I'd just try the race tune. If idle becomes flaky over time, maybe disable closed loop idle so the AFV doesn't affect idle.

I thought mine ran fine with race map at first but then after time, it seemed like it was a lil rich in low giving me a few pops here and there and when I would punch the throttle, it would decelerate slow. I changed the map back to stock and it works much better. I will be getting on the dyno soon for test on stock and race map.

I have an 07 12sst with the more open stock air box, K&N, Hawk, Iridiums and breather. My stock map really didnt look a whole lot different than the race map but I went ahead and tried the race map anyways. Initially it popped a lot but after a TPS reset when it was good and hot it does it only occasionally now. Seems to have a bit more in the lower end and doesn't stumble/sneeze as much outta the hole. The crazy part is my MPG went up and quite a bit at that, from 48 to 54. Near future I want to get it back on the laptop and compare the map now to the original race map to see what learning has altered on it.

Hdstn which number iridiums ur using? 8 or 9? I also need to learn how to download the data after riding. I have the ecmspy cable n program just haven't tried downloading data. I'm going to turn my o2 back on also to see if I notice any difference. Anyone care to send me the link of the thread that will show me how to download data? Thanks buellers.

Well, randy n I just spoke n this man has excellent customer service. We came to the conclusion that every buell is going to react different to upgrades. Some may do well with race map n others may not. My bike is running stronger faster n better throttle response with stock map n o2 sensor off. It's very hot here in Florida. Maybe that helps. But no hesitation, no issues on cruising, no lose of power in any range. My process was first race map n tps reset until it ran good. Then I just remapped ecu after several months with the stock map n o2 off but didn't do another Tps reset. I'm amazed of the difference. I also have a large right scoop for rear cylinder cooling, kn filter, Mobil 1 oils, iridium 8, breather reroute , hawk muffler, air box mod, n header wrap. Everyone should try like me if u have a hawk. Doesn't hurt to try.
