So what are the best mods for torque? I'm not worried about HP all that much, just straight up arm ripping wheelie popping torque...

Ideas?

- there's a primairy torque kit out for your 9. (=> discontinued?)
- a good low-end aftermarket pipe

never here talk about timing usuallya few deg retard will make good low end tq but lose a little on the top hp area...can timing be changed

i don't know about timing that can be atricky thing on a v-twin. i have seen a 11% primary reduction kit 4 about $200 and i believe its offered by buell

I would love more info on the primary reduction kits available, and what the best pipe is for low end torque, (and if it's a Jardine then 2nd best, I refuse to buy a freakin' pipe I have to repack over..and over....and over..)

I know that I only have around 67-70 ft/lbs of torque stock, so what is a realistic torque figure to aspire to without just dumping loads of cash into it? I'd like to get up to 85 ft/lbs is that reasonable at all?

Hi Fido,

i got the primary gearing kit at my bike.
It runs more even and has more power and control down low. It's easier to run at higher gear and still feel power. Nice for high speed cruising. About the only gripe is that you reduce top speed (at each gear ofcourse). I run maximum 190-195 km/h (118-120 mph) full speed at fifth gear. That speed is redline now, i think i did slightly close to that speed at fourth gear before.
Well, it's not a problem really, not for me i already lay glued at the bike at those speeds (ride xb 12). I mostly tried it, to see if it compensated for the loss from changing exhaust. It works well. It had been freakin great with a 6 geared tranny now :D

Aluminum billet drive and rear pulley designed to improve torque. Temperate and surface hardned for long life. Special steel galvanized inner part changeable. Don't required any modification. Reduced weight. Totally stainless.

primairy kit is for the 12.

exhaust, for now would be the blaster V
or a buell race, drummer doesn't do that bad either.

THE primary reduction kit is offered at american sportbike for 193.10 + shipping (www.amercansportbike.com) ;)

Never heard of the Blaster V exhaust before... on the primary kit thing....I have a 9 so it's no good for me.

No, maybe not. Skip primary gearing kit then.. Foxie posted pics of the kit you can buy, new front sprocket and rear pulley.
V-blast, it's from neatherlands i believe. If you're in the US, this will cost you a fortune (it does for us to). It cost more than anything at the market, atleast incompairson to those that i've seen. Though, they got a race ecm for it. Mapped and ready as extra cost option. Well, it's probably nice. As mentioned, really really expensive. Last time i looked it was something like €1750 (header + muffler) + ecm €340.
Puh:(

Geez work wounded my pride and you guys are wounding my heart... Keep it coming.

What can I say? I'm a glutton for punishment.

I just swapped wheels with someone who has a 12 and her sprocket is the same size as mine from the 9. So how sure are you guys that they are different? Did something change in certain years?

Yeah, I thought the belt/sprockets were the same from 9's to 12's and just the primary gearing was different
