mobil1 synth, amsoil is what most of the guys recommend in the primary and swingarm.

I'm changing out both tomorrow using mobil1 v-twin

I agree most use 20w50 for engine oil for wide temp use and better cold starting, make sure it made & designed for (4 stroke) motorcycles .
and/or recommended for air cooled motorcycle engines.....
also some oil manufactures like RP recommend 20w50(maxcycle) for engine oil and 10w30(maxcycle) for the primary , but if using other oil from another manufacture go with at least 10w40 or 20w 50 in primary and make sure it for WET CLUTCH USE for in the primary or you could ruin your clutch very QUICK.

definitely reccomend full synthetic oil , like Royal Purple or mobile 1 . USE the best that you can afford , same goes for the filter (oil & air)...

info for oil change in service manuals above.

ive had good luck with the mobil 1 v-twin oil 20w-50. i think it was made from the beginning with harley engines in mind

I have Mobil 1 15w50 full synthetic. I never saw anything about being for a v twin [confused]
It has an API SM,SL/CF rating. I plan to use it inthe both holes tomorrow. Do I need to get something else??

DANG!..now I gotto try and find this tomorrow. I have never even seen that label before. NUTZ[mad]

i was having toruble finding it too, but then i asked the clerk at autozone and they have motorcycle fluids in a totally seperate aisle.

I'm using amsoil 20w50 motorcycle oil.. Just changed out both out for my 1k service. Shifts better, smoother idle when cold it seems. Also using a kn oil filter, only draw back its white.

i use amsoil 20w 50 syn, cost just the same as hd syn3 , and in my opinion its better too

I'll have to check on that, my local napa didn't have anything that said motorcycle on it. I try to avoid the zone, but maybe I need to give em a look.

I run Royal Purple in my Electra Glide and Amsoil in my Lightning. Have had excellent luck with both of them.

I like seeing proof and sure every situation is different but I will stick with Mobil 1 V-twin.

Anything 20w50 synthetic in both holes work and it doesn't have to be v-twin specific. Just make sure it's motorcycle oil. I almost bought regular 20w50 for vehicles. Good thing I double checked right before I got to the counter.

I got Mobil1 V-Twin moto 20w50 on sale yesterday at Advanced Auto. Not sure if it's still on sale

Do you REALLY need "motorcycle" oil in the tranny? The additives in V-twin oil are mainly for heat and other combustion related stuff. I've been putting regular auto 20w50 in my tranny for years in my Sportster and it's be fine.
