I almost got a stump jumper, what I initially looked at but went for the FSRxc Expert as I got a screaming deal and wuldnt have gained to much by going to the stump jumper.
i just got one of these. its an eastern thunderbird basically a 26" bmx bike. it should be at my house next week. i got it to do some more urban riding and maybe get into dirt jumps. the bike i have now is good on the trails but not so easy to throw around with a huge frame and pretty long chainstays comparably.
Kona; you will have to let me know how that rides, I am looking at those too, maybe getting into sone pump trails along with some dirt jumping.
I swear I am going to kill myself on one of these damn pedal bikes before my motorcycle, I know I need to invest in some elbow and shin protectors. Already have the chest/back protector and helmet but nothing for the limbs. [smirk]
i will let you know how it is extreme. i cant wait to get it. i have the tracking number but it doesnt look like it has actually been shipped yet. i wear a helmet and am thinking shin guards would be a good idea. although the eastern has plastic pedals i think, my kona has steel pins that are not shin friendly.
I have had more than my share of stitches in my shins from my bmx days!! I still have my 20inch bmx and park bikes, It is so weird to ride them now that I'm used to the 29er!
Eric, do you have a uni-cycle for real. I played around on one for a bit but have not mastered it yet!
no offense but unicycles look like the dumbest things to me. yes its hard and i respect the talent it takes to ride one but they dont look fun at all. i guess its just not my cup of tea. i did see some unicycle competition on tv once and watched it but still something i wouldnt ever want to do.
I had this bike when I was going to college and had more time to ride the trails outside of town. It was pretty fun, til I broke my right clavicle. Never really got back into the off-road/downhill stuff after that. Plus it wasn't much good for riding around in town with only 8 speeds. Also, I enjoy riding my Buells much more.
Yeah I want to do my best avoid stitches, as I am sure the bill for those will out weigh a set of shin guards the first time around.
Hmmmm, $50 copay for ER, plus extra for gas to get to the hospital $15, loss of a day of riding, of and the pain...... so yup $65 for ICON shin guards are a must to order.
its a ton of fun. feels really solid and is very smooth. im not a big fan of the brake but i have an extra set of calipers that i can use one of. little bit of getting used to though. got a couple skid marks on my ass but its a very easy bike to throw around. i am working on getting the manual dialed in but i still need a little more time. havent taken it to any dirt jumps but gapping stuff and hitting drops around town is quite a bit of fun. im also working on 180's but rolling out of them is a challenge for me. i really like the fork on it too.
I have done everything I could, turning my entire life into a Bucket List Trip since my return from Iraq.
Like I always said while I was overseas. "Better to Die for Something, Rather Live for Nothing"....
But now I am home so I live every second like it is my last. Death creeps up on us all some sooner than others and if I am one of those it creeps on early I know I had one hell of a time living as it chased me down
12,000ft up, hit the ground and wanted to just jump back in the plane for another round, this is going to become my next addiction..... Thanks Pyrat.....
