Bike Shifting very badly into and out of 3rd

Well something is up with my transmission. Basically when you try to shift into or out of third it will get stuck in between gears and won't shift. And when you try to go into third from 2nd sometimes it is really hard or wont do it. If anyone has any ideas let me know. And its just third everything else is fine.

Had the same problem on my XT after the Harley dealer said they found rattling in my engine and replaced the needle bearing. Don't know what the problem was. I had to press the shifter 2-3 times to get it to change. Something they did made it too tight.
Finally got tired of it and traded it in.

Have the same problem know some one else with the same problem. It is worse when the bike is hot do you feel the same? The other guy had the gearbox rebuilt i think some of the shifters got worn. The machanic i used said that the earlier models had the problem, they changed the material of the shifter and it solved the problem he also said something about chamfering the gear but i am not to shure. Try using a thicker oil it helps on mine the synthetic made it worse. I think i had the best result with the standard recomended oil from Harly.
