Has anyone seen a kit or have any idea the best way to black out your headlights. I dont want anything permanent i was thinking mabe window tint?

Look on ebay for gel sheets. They use them on stages and such. It is a clear mylar that won't melt in the heat of your headlights. You can choose from lots of colors. not sure if they have black but I bet they do. I used yellow on my lightning headlight but only covered a small portion of the lense. I just wanted that euro/foglight look. I used thin double sided tape to apply.

Got to be careful with dark tint on the headlights, it will melt the darker it is.
I know Sylvania had made colored lens for older cars n trucks that had replaceable headlights.
Basically it was a honeycomb inside the lens and as you looked at it off, all you saw was the color, turn it on and there was light.
Still I think they were really made for show vehicles.

Blacked out headlights? Great idea! That way not only can you not see worth crap at night, cars can't see you during the day. It's a win-win! [down] while you're at it why not replace your tailight with a single LED hanging from a loose wire so they can't tell you're stopping either.

You could always just disconnect the lights for that real "Black out" look, and drive around in all black non reflective clothes for the full ninja effect.

I guess you guys missed the sarcasm, maybe i should reword it i would like tinted headlights the ones you can still see with not completly blacked out you see cars with them all the time i guess it is some kind of tint.

Yeah Im sure the people with blacked out tail lights and shit think they look cool but the whole point of having lights is to be seen . why not just take the lights off then.

The mother of a girl I know was hit and killed by a driver who spray painted his head light covers black to match his car. He is in jail now, you can try that.

If anything you could use two small stripes of Velcro. Either on each side of lens or top/ bottom... Then use tinted plexi glass that would be removable.. Thought about it before and in my opinion, headlights don't make you that much more visible during the day. Still prob. illegal in most or all states though.

Headlights make a HUGE difference during the day for a bike. A bikes profile is so small it can literally get "lost" in the background to a driver. The headlights are often the only thing a driver will see (even that they sometimes seem to have trouble with).
Point is, blacking out, or even tinting your headlights reduces their effectiveness a LOT and is a TERRIBLE idea.

lol. Everyone is so quick to bash.

"Smoking", "Tinting",and "Blacking out" your headlights (or any lens for that matter) can be done properly to reduce the transparency when they're off, without reducing your lumen output too dramatically. A light with a greater lumen output can compensate for this change.

its all in good fun man, but i do know the risk when running "smoked" taillights and headlights I just think they look good and will flow well with my bike, but yea there is def a risk when doing any kind of modification to lighting.

Yeah you can use a light tint, the point of tint is it allows light out but not in that's why you can see out but not in car windows with tint, don't go overboard though a light hade tint will still look dark because it's such a small area, also there's a more permanent method a product called night shades, it's a spray on tint, basically like spray paint but the same chemical affect of regular tint in that it allows light out, I wouldn't recommend it on headlights though, they are right about that. Turn signals and tail lights aren't as bog of a deal because people can register the change in light when you apply those, headlights though need to be constantly seen. Although it's your choice so I won't go all mommy on you.
