Well the other day on my way to work my bike decided to blow up.. literally.. thank god I have a 4 year extended warranty.I took the bike into the dealership today and this is what I was told. They said the clutch basket is held together with rivets and they had worn down until they came completely apart. Thus having the clutch explode inside the case. Looks like everything is gonna be covered under warranty due to catastrophic failure. But looks like I'll be out of a bike for a few months. But will get a brand new engine out of the deal.

Good God that sucks. Well, at least you have the warranty. I'd hate to see the bill without it.

That's maybe the 2nd or 3rd one I've seen like that. Engine swap should only take a couple of days at most at a shop, not months. They have crate motors still sitting in a warehouse somewhere. Or maybe it was a dumpster.

With HD warranty, it could be anything. They have motors available, it's just a matter of shipping it to the dealer and installing it. Good luck with it, you might even get a 2010 engine with the sight glass built in.

Yep, not sure how many they kept though. I wouldn't mind getting one myself, but I've broken mine in like I wanted it and it's pushing 140 hp at the wheel with 35k on the clock.

Yea. I will see what my options are.. I would just like the cams so I can do some experimental can grinding.. I grind cams for twin lawn mower engines for pulling and racing at my part time job.. same principle

Talked to the dealership tonight. They said that the nut on the crankshaft loosened and fell off causing the connecting rod to become break and go into the case and make a nice hole.. 100% paid for.. not sure if I'll get a 2010 engine or not. We will see

I think the 2010 engine used a different harness, so you're probably stuck with the 08 or 09 since they probably won't update the harness

Nope same harness from 08-10, only a few mods between the years, such as injector location, timing chain guides, sight glass, that's what I can think of off the top of my head.
